"I rarely rate 1s or 5s, I save them for the truly terrible or the truly exceptional. I generally also get 5-6 quotes before I go with a contractor to do any work on my house. I give Smithery and Post a solid 5.0. They were able to install my fence in 1.5 days, covering approximately 160-170 linear feat of fence to include a gate. It was a 6 foot, white, vinyl shadowbox style. On day one, Rob arrived with Sky to get the 3.5 foot holes dug around the perimeter using a machine with a 10 inch diameter drill. They then set 120 lbs of concrete beside each hole with the poles resting in the holes. Panel sections were laid out.. essentially setting up the work scene. They began assembling part of the fence that day, but returned the next day to fully complete the job. It is one sturdy fence and completely level. Rob made sure to level each section of fence in all three directions that matter as he went along, then he even went back afterward and made sure it was still level. He had to make sure the gate would swing correctly, so he had to dig a small channel without messing up the runoff gradient from the house. Rob and Sky did not leave any of my sprinkler system damaged, nor did they hit any utilities. In fact, they took care of the utility mapping with the city and obtained any required permitting. The only thing we had to do is provide a survey of the property, as well as, fill in the permitting documents he provided us (which also require a Notary witness, so be sure to plan for that). He takes care of the inspector and everything else afterward as well (different than some contractors I've worked with, e.g. AC guys, where I had to do the legwork after the fact). Ultimately I went with Rob and team because of their solid reputation and there being a family owned and operated business. Once my neighbors fence finally falls over, I will not be hesitating in contacting this company again to finish off the rest of the yard with the solid workmanship Rob and Sky demonstrated. Beware going with another company just because that company might be cheaper... a few hundred bucks toward Smithery Post and Plank will save you years of headache since they do it right the first time. They don't skimp on details, and they don't skimp on concrete."

We obtained bid from Gulfstream in March of 2013 with the
intent of having work done in January of 2014.  After obtaining design approval
for both the window enclosure and front door by our condo HOA we signed a
contract during the summer of 2013 and provided a 50% down payment.  The contract stipulated work was to be
completed by mid-January, 2014.

Because we would not arrive in Florida until late December
of 2013, we arranged to have a neighbor give Gulfstream access to our condo in
October of 2013 to do final measurements before ordering materials.  However, Gulfstream
didn?t reach out to the neighbor until late November and therefore measurement did not take
place until the first week in December.

We arrived in Florida at the end of December, 2013 and
reached out to Gulfstream to determine when we could expect them to begin
work.  At that time we were advised that
the front door and the frame for the windows/screen could be installed, but
there would be a delay on the installation of the windows/screens of about a
week.
After the front door was installed we realized they
installed the wrong front door.  To Gulfstream?s
credit the salesperson came out that afternoon to review the work and agreed
they had made an error.  The correct door
was installed within a week.  Amazingly
we learned the Sales Manager (who we understand is no longer with them) took it
upon himself to change the door order because someone he knows that lives in
this community told him, in error, the door we had selected would not meet the
condo board?s approval.  We couldn?t
believe that change could be made without ever contacting us to discuss.
Re: the windows/screens, the date constantly shifted.  The communication was poor with regard to the
shifting dates ? the onus was on us to check to see if the last date
communicated would hold.    At least two
weeks went by before the owner finally advised us she was having trouble with
the supplier.  It appeared she was afraid
to give us bad news.  Ironically,
consistently giving us unreliable or no information only made it more
frustrating for us as we had other contractors lined up to do work in the
lanai.
Despite the hiccups, we are very happy with the quality of
the workmanship and the products.  The
two person team who did the installation was wonderful.  They came when they said they would, took
great pride in the work they did and took great care to clean up after they
completed their work.
