"We are very pleased we chose the The Floor Store to help us select new flooring and have it installed. We worked with Bill Cunningham to choose carpet and vinyl flooring materials that we are very satisfied with. The installation crews for both the hard floor and the carpet were incredibly professional and highly skilled. They arrived as scheduled, worked consistently throughout the day(s) and completed the work when expected. Between the new flooring and new baseboards, our house feels refreshed and contemporary. This was a great investment in our home and we're so glad we made it."

"Matt is an artist as well as being an outstanding tradesman. He turned my rather mundane vision into a real bit of "decor", even my wife was impressed and she's hard to please. Matt and his assistant Manny were professional, polite, courteous and hard working. They turned a drab 3/4 bath into a real eye pleaser. Matt and Manny functioned as a well oiled machine, they were polite, courteous and above all professional. Matt kept us informed as to the progress of the work and regularly went that extra mile to ensure the excellent quality of their work. To the question of that shower door, a "DreamLine Essence Semi-Frameless Sliding Shower Door" a really beautiful bit of work and a total pain. The instructions provided didn't match the parts provided. It was a real pain to contact the manufacturers "Help Line" and finally I was able to dig through the manufacturers web-site and come up with the updated installation instructions. After that Matt and Manny were able to confidently dig into and complete the install. We will be asking them back to do several projects that we have in our planned remodeling of our home."

"I called Eric and asked if he would do a used carpet installation.  He was having a hard time communicating with me because of a language barrier.  He said he would call me back within the hour -which they did- but it was a woman who called me back.  I was able to communicate what I wanted done and we set up an appointment for Eric to come out the next day.  The time she quoted me for him to arrive was between 11:00am-12:00pm, Eric showed up at 11:15am.  Eric and one other gentleman came in and did an amazing job in my living room.  I then asked them if they could stretch the carpet we had already installed ourselves.  They did a great job in both rooms that they worked on.  I am so pleased that I found them!  Out of everyone I called and got quotes from, Eric was the cheapest.  He did a professional job for a price that didn't empty my wallet.  I plan on using Eric again in a few weeks to install carpet and padding in another bedroom.  They were both really quiet but not in an awkward way.  I felt completely comfortable with them in my home. <br /> *Before calling Eric, I had already installed the tack strips and padding in the living room.* <br />"

"I called the day on Thursday, got a few details and asked if they could detail my car on Friday.  We set up an appointment at 2pm at my house.  (Cool, points for availability).  I had some errands to do on Friday but thought I could do them and make the 2pm.  At 1:50pm I got a call from them saying that I was late for my 1:30pm appointment.  I explained that the appointment was for 2pm and that I would be there in 5 minutes.  I arrived at 1:55pm and they started detailing my car. <br /> I went in the house to wait.  I checked on them a couple of times and it seemed that they had teams of people that specialized in different things because I saw different faces each time.  After 2 hours, they rang my door bell to let me know that they were done.  I examined the car and my first impression was that it looked like it had just been driven off the car lot.  Looked great.  <br /> When I looked a little closer I found a few issues.  First, the front window was badly streaked.  I mentioned it and they immediately started working on it.  I then noticed that the head lamps had not been cleaned.  They said that they would work on it but to really do it right I would need to purchase an additional package where they buffed the head lamps clean.  I thought that I was paying a premium for the detailing service and expected this to be a part of the package but apparently not.  (Negative points). <br /> I paid them the money, signed some paperwork and prepared to drive my car into the garage.  I then noticed that I was missing my foot mats.  Luckily, they were still in the driveway and I asked them about them.  The guy said that they had put them aside so that they could dry and had forgot to put them back.  He said that they were still wet and suggested that I leave them out so that I didn't develop mold in my car.  He then got in the van and left.  I examined the foot mats and immediately realized that they weren't wet.  In fact, they were dusty and had never been cleaned.  Disappointing! <br /> So, overall I was happy with how the car turned out.  The car looks great.  I have never had my car detailed before so I am not sure about my level of expectation.  I did ask around and a few friends mentioned $200 for detailing.  I had one friend that had a groupon for an $80 detailing.  For the price I paid, I expected very minor issues.  I didn't like that the guy lied to me about the foot mats and the head lamp cleaning should have been part of the service. Otherwise, I am happy with the service.  The next time I detail my car, I will try a different detailer just to see if this is par for the course or that I should have demanded more. <br />"

"Levi did a fantastic job on our inspection. He was thorough, efficient, polite and professional. He seemed very knowledgeable and shared his suggestions concerning the course we could take to make certain repairs and projects he thought were a priority. We had a very tight closing date and Levi made the effort to fit our home inspection in during a very busy time for inspectors. He was punctual and had the report to me by the following day. Levi was also able to coordinate a last minute pest inspection for us as well. After asking some of my friends for recommendations for inspectors, they all mentioned they had been disappointed with their inspector, so I'm pleased we used Angie's List and found DCHI. I happily recommend Levi and DCHI to others for a home inspection. Thank you, Levi! <br />"

"We had this company install flooring before and felt they were fantastic (see previous report).  This time it was frustrating and we felt they no longer appreciated our business.  First the salesperson said flooring had gone up in price.  $12.99 vs 7.99.  When I said I wanted to price elsewhere suddenly the price came down to $8.99.  Really?  They said it would be a few days for delivery and we were still waiting over a week.  They measured wrong on the tile and then we had to wait another week for the tile.  They charged us for undercutting the doors in the bedroom and office but didn't actually undercut any doors.  I brought this to their attention and I received another bill still charging for the doors.  We can't even close the closet door since they were here so know they didn't undercut that door.  No explaination but another bill.  I paid it but feel like they are looking to add on or get anything extra that they can from us.  Not a good feeling.  I may use them again (Roswell doesn't have many options) but will be very specific and get everything initialled by the workmen themselves.  By the way, the installers were great.  Very professional and nice."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Roswell, NM

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
