"<p>I am a single woman and I don't know any contractors.  I was worried about finding a contractor I could trust.  I found Powers Interior Contracting through Angie's List.  I needed an upstairs loft converted into an insulated bedroom with a door.  Joe Powers came out and bid the project with a thorough and reasonable bid which I received within a week of his first visit.  This was a smaller project for Joe and he worked it in between other jobs and finished the project in two and half weeks.  He was very professional, kind, helpful, trustworthy, punctual, a good communicator and he did an outstanding job on the project.  Everything went as I had expected.  The room turned out great.  He matched the paint and the texture of the walls to the existing living room such that you cannot tell the upper room used to be a loft.  He is a really talented craftsman.  He did an excellent job cleaning up the work site before he left.</p> The project couldn't have gone any smoother and I couldn't be happier with the finished product.  I would definitely use Joe Powers' services again and I highly recommend him for interior contracting work. <br />"

"GTL is a top notch construction company. They had performed the original work on our house (painting, wainscoting, crown moulding, archway trim) several years ago. We were extremely happy with the friendliness, responsiveness, professionalism, and most importantly, the quality of their work. So when our house suffered water damage his winter and needed to be repaired, we only called GTL construction. As expected, their service and workmanship were top notch. Tommy also noticed (which we did not) that there was a slight sag in the crown moulding that he had placed some 4+ years ago and fixed it at no additional charge. In fact, he said that he would fix it even if we didn't hire him for the rest of the repairs. That's a testament to his integrity and commitment to his customers. You can't go wrong with GTL construction. I would highly recommend them."

"United Freight did a great job and were timely and even ahead of schedule. There was a Tropical storm tracking for VA, and they got the car accross country and off the truck and to me in time to beat the rain. They were also good with communucation the whole way."

"Provider showed up early to haul debris from the side of our house. He had everything cleaned up and loaded into his truck very quickly. I asked him if he could clean up the yard and take some additional stuff and he did it with no problem or questions asked. He also emptied the garbage cans that we had. "We had attempted to replace a cracked shower drain cover ourselves, and ended up cracking the drain pipe. Based on my initial inquiry, uncertain if there was a little fix or if it would be a big project, Teri first responded by email suggesting a band-aid fix using caulk. I was extremely grateful for the suggestion. This is one of my favorite things about SHEcan2: that Teri will talk you out of a project that shouldn't be done, or help find the affordable solution, so that in the end you are happy with the final decision. The caulk didn't work to seal the drain, so she came out right away to take a look and give us a quote. At the same time we looked at a (related) mystery leak and discussed how to investigate that at the same time. Since our budget is constrained by child-care costs, I was very grateful that Teri made suggestions for how to keep the project more affordable, while achieving all objectives. I was also impressed and grateful that she was able to immediately get us scheduled, since I know that sometimes they are booked months out. At the start of the project there were a couple delays due to another project running over and a truck dying, but otherwise the work was done in 2 days + a few hours for the second coat of mud and texturing. We are very happy with the new shower surround and faucet. I only had two complaints. The first was that the discussion of the side objective of investigating our mystery leak did not get communicated clearly to the workman, so I had to bring it up to him directly. The second was cleanup: he put a drop cloth down on part of the bedroom carpet during part of the work, but it didn't prevent paster dust from his shoes being tracked through the house, and there was significant difficult-to-clean plaster dust on the carpet and smears of plaster on the bathroom floor."

"We reluctantly conclude that dealing with Park Mechanical and Lennox has been an expensive mistake for us. In July 2013 we signed an “investment agreement” with Park to install a new Lennox furnace and air conditioning system in our house, to replace the old system, at a cost of over $10,000. Then we learned that the five-year Lennox warranty would be good only if we paid Park to inspect our system periodically, to certify that it has been “properly maintained.” To accomplish this we were persuaded to join a Park program called the “Shamrock Club,” under which we have been paying Park $99 a year for periodic inspections to certify that the equipment still qualifies for warranty coverage. One such inspection, in January 2016, declared the system to be correct and operational. But in May 2016, when the first hot weather arrived and we turned on the air conditioning, it did not work; there was no cooling. A Park technician found that something called the TXV valve had failed. After several hot days waiting for the replacement part, the valve was replaced and the system worked again. The repair was considered a warranty issue, and we were not charged. Similarly, on March 28, 2017, a Park technician inspected the system, found it to be functioning normally, and declared it to be “on maintenance.” At the beginning of May 2017, however, when the weather turned warm and we turned the system to “Cool,” it failed again. A Park technician found that all the refrigerant had leaked out, and refilled it pending permanent repair of the leak. On May 15 the technician returned and told us we would be charged $238 for the refrigerant and additionally for the labor to fix the leak. This time we learned that the Lennox warranty covers only the parts themselves that fail, and not the labor or the refrigerant needed due to the failure. No leak was found, and we were informed that the next step would be to inject a florescent marker dye into the refrigerant to show the leak – at an additional cost to us of $395. This failure is due to a failure in Park’s workmanship or in the Lennox equipment itself. The cost to fix it should be covered by warranty. Our disappointment with Park also includes Lennox, which offers only minimal warranty coverage for its products. Our experience may indicate why the company has so little confidence in what it sells. Our specific issues are: 1) Having to pay extra for warranty coverage on expensive new Lennox equipment. 2) The warranty does not cover labor and other costs that are likely when warranted equipment fails. 3) Our Lennox system has failed twice in the space of a year. This is not acceptable reliability. 4) Every Park inspection of our system has declared it to be operational and adequately maintained, including those immediately before the two equipment failures."
