"We called Hays Plumbing Thursday evening around 5:30. They came by Friday AM about 9:00, took measurements, returned at 1:30pm with new heater. Finished. Old water heater removed, new one installed, area cleaned extensively, and left at:30."

"Originally they thought they would have to open up the wall in our living room (we had just remodeled it a few months earlier, and did not look forward to that. However, after removing the upstairs sink/vanity and opening that area, they found a way to run the new lines without opening the living room wall. They did have to open the main floor wall behind the stove. Pete and Anthony were the two servicemen and both were very professional and friendly. It was pretty much an all day job, but the results were great with minimal tear out. Since they are plumbers, they do not do the drywall or flooring work needed to put things back.( We are using Angie's list for that also. We would definitely recommend and use Easreday again. Kudos to Pete and Anthony for a great job. BTW, they came in at the low estimate, we are happy cam pets! <br />"

"Dependable & professional, knowledgeable; the only less-than-ideal issue was when waiting for parts there was quite a wait for scheduling return visits. Would have been better if they scheduled based on when part ordered is due to be delivered instead of waiting to put you on list after it's received because then you wait for about a week for open appointment"

"I called them on a very hot week and was expecting them to be busy. I called on a monday and to my surprise he could meet with me that afternoon. I work 8a-5p and he worked with me and made me his last stop (he called to show up at 4:45pm Perfect!) He was waiting for me when I got home and immediately got to work. He was very quick and knowledgeable and answered all my questions, as well as informed me of what he was doing. I just needed more Freon in my A/C unit but he asked if i would like a leak test while he was there (I immediately thought $$$$$) I said yes and he went inside with me and checked the A-coil for any leaks. He found many and continued to inform me of what may happen and how long it may last. He put everything back together and made sure everything was working in top condition. As he was cleaning up he was telling me that if I have any other problems with it to give him a call, and if I wanted to replace the whole unit to give him a call and he would let me know what he could do/get. He also told me to call him back in the early spring of next year to check the levels again if I decide to keep this unit. I started writing the check as he made the ticket and was ready for a dent in the bank account. When he handed me the ticket I was amazed, Freon and Labor were the only items on the bill. I happily wrote the check and since I was his last stop, offered him a beer or beverage, he respectively declined and was on his way. By far the best plumbing/heating experience I ever had."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Springfield, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
