"Jeff Howard and his team were outstanding. Professional, knowledgeable, helpful. Best pricing. And the installers Nick and Randy were excellent - the flooring looks perfect. It was a very big flooring project (part of a whole house renovation) and they totally delivered. A nearby interior design company used Affordable for their floors - that's how I discovered them in the first place. I am entirely pleased with Affordable Carpet & Wood! Highly recommended."

"THIS COMPANY IS OUTSTANDING. THEIR STAFF, FROM THEIR ESTIMATOR TO THEIR INSTALLATION CREW, ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL. WE RECEIVED A CALL THE NIGHT BEFORE INSTALLATION GIVEN US THE INSTALLATION TIME. THE NEXT DAY THEY ARRIVED RIGHT ON TIME AND WERE FINISHED WITHIN HALF AN HOUR OF THEIR ESTIMATED COMPLETION TIME. THE CREW WAS COURTEOUS AND LEFT THE WORK AREA SPOTLESS, TO INCLUDE VACUUMING."

"Used them once and the service tech smelled HEAVILY like cigarette smoke, quite repulsive. He was also curt and short but did a satisfactory job. The second time I used them the owner accompanied the same tech due to me reporting him. The job went more smoothly and I was satisfied. The third time I scheduled and had to cancel ahead of time due to illness and then rescheduled it. The day it was rescheduled for, the water to the whole building I live in (condo) was going to be turned off. Owner/scheduler was notified 24 hours in advance -as soon as I knew- and she was curt and abrupt about rescheduling and gave me an ultimatum that this was the last rescheduling allowed. It didn’t really matter that I had no control over the condo management turning off the water to the building for plumbing repair. Update as of November 19th Carpet cleaning. Fact remains that the water was SHUT OFF to the building and since you require our water to do your job, you couldn’t do it. And secondly, with all due respect, you could use some spelling and grammar lessons."

"We entered into a professional contract to install luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring with Quality Flooring in 2021. Approx. 1 year later, our flooring failed, without the ability to repair. This failure was a direct result of the installation completed by Quality Flooring. We have 2 inspection reports (by licensed professionals), both confirming that Quality Flooring did not install the flooring correctly. They did not properly level our subfloors before the install of the new LVP. Nor did they leave enough expansion space between walls and/or other objects. This goes directly against what is within the manufacturer guidelines for proper installation. With all of this information in the hands of Quality Flooring, they did not offer to assist us in anyway. We attempted, several times, to negotiate some type of compromise with Quality Flooring but was offered nothing. In fact, the Owner stated that he is cutting all communication off and would not discuss anything further. This left us no choice but to take legal action. We went through a long and unnecessary legal battle, for Mr. Milea to eventually settle on an amount we offered. This, in no way, covers the expenses that we incurred to replace the floors or the anguish we were put through during this process. This is, by far, the worst experience we have ever experienced with any company. We regret ever giving the opportunity to Quality Flooring."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Saint Augustine, FL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
