Customers say: Terrific value
"Leo and Laura were very responsive and clearly communicated how they work. Leo replaced parts to the toilet and was able to diagnose the problem with the leaky dishwasher but wasn’t able to fix it because a special part was needed. Would definitely hire them again for handyman work."

"Everyone told me that home repair companies would likely be taking only big roofing jobs after Hurricane Zeta hit New Orleans and that I might have to wait a month or longer to replace a single missing shingle that blew off during the Category 2 hurricane. While it definitely doesn’t meet the definition of a “big job,” even a single missing shingle can result in potentially significant (not to mention expensive) water damage inside the home the next time it rains. So, we called our go-to home-repair company, One Man and A Toolbox, the Monday after the hurricane. It isn’t often that I leave friends slack-jawed but that’s just what happened when I informed them that One Man and a Toolbox was sending one of their experienced workers (Henry) out to repair our roof the very next day (Tuesday). Henry not only repaired the roof shingle in question but also fixed another errant shingle he spotted while up on our roof. Total cost: $80. We are so grateful to One Man and a Toolbox for their amazing customer service and professional quality work — especially after a hurricane. This company is a class act. If it sounds like I’m a happy (and loyal) customer, you would be absolutely correct."

"This was the only appliance repair company listed for me and when I called, the receptionist was very polite and professional, but sadly, had to tell me they no longer service my area. It's amazing how hard it is to find a reliable appliance repair company these days."

"All the projects went well. There is no sign that floor tiles were replaced. My bedroom is almost transformed, which makes me feel good. It will be completed later this week with intergrating floor into thresholds & quarter round is placed. Jeff even fixed my shoe which had a design flaw which had a knot of threads inside the shoe. Be careful what you say around Jeff. He'll fix it."

"There were a few hiccups, some of which were completely expected. <br /> (a) Earlier work (10 years ago) demonstrated that my floors were not level. As I expected, there was additional cost to level the floors. <br /> (b) The contractor originally left off the use of quarter-rounds to finish off the connection of baseboard and floor. After discussion with the subcontractor lead, they decided it was needed. The change increased the cost, but I was ok with that. <br /> A few were unexpected <br /> (a) I misread the contract and did not notice that it was written to indicate that the tub would be replaced with a new tub. The change increased the cost. <br /> (b) I requested a line item cost for moving furniture, et al. However, the contractors understood that to be only moving furniture and not all of the packed items. The cost was increased to move boxes and items which had not been packed. <br /> (c) I needed to rent a POD for a month to hold the house's contents. Upon consideration, I think this was an excellent suggestion. However, this also increased my cost. <br /> Despite all of the occasional misunderstanding, I am very much satisfied with the result. This is the first time that I've used a contractor who did not pick all of the materials without my input. It took more time that I expected to pick items that met the cost guidelines provided by the contractor. However, this process meant that I ended up with a result as customized as possible with my budget. <br />"

"Perfect from start to finish. Professional, organized, and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Jack and Son. The work was exactly what I wanted. In fact, I cannot even see where the repairs were made."

"The salesman Neil is great in the products and service that he sells. He promises to inspect the windows when they are completely installed to make sure that we were completely satisfied and that the job was done to perfection. Once we signed on the dotted line and paid him a check we never heard from him again. We had several different installers before the job was finished. They weren't prompt nor did they call to let you know they were going to be late or one time just didn't show up. They are extremely sloppy and messed up some of the trim on the outside of the house. The office staff is nice and tries to be helpful but they aren't the installers."

"Fabulous. He added batting around the a/c heater where needed, put batting in the attic access door, and added blown-in insulation to entire attic (it's getting cold outside now!). Gary was very neat - he put down tarps to protect our new wood floors. Whole job took just under an hour. Highly recommend him! <br />"
