"I called Friday morning to see if anyone would be willing to come out and help me with the carpet remnant I had purchased for my husband's man cave in the garage.  Frank was gone on a job, but his wife said that if he got done early enough, he could come out.  Frank called at 4:15 after a long day of work already to let me know he'd be happy to come help!  He was cheerful, professional, hard working, and had a fantastic sense of humor.  Not only did he cut the edges of the remnant to make them nice and smooth, he also applied latex glue to the edges so they would not unravel.  Our garage has a support pole in it, and after Frank cut the carpet to fit around that, he even seamed the edges together so no one would trip on the flaps.  I was not expecting such attention to detail on a job like this one (it's just a garage)!  I was also not expecting anyone to come out on such short notice on a Friday (Pioneer Day, no less).  I would absolutely recommend Mr. Karpet to anyone without hesitation. <br />"

"I loved being able to pick out the exact slab of granite from their back lot. No surprises...what you see is what you get. I took samples home to get an idea of what it would look like. Ruby was great at taking time to answer all my questions. Janae came to measure and gave us a quote for several options. The install guys were great too. I needed 3 holes drilled for faucets and they were happy to do whatever I needed. Extremely happy with the entire process. My counters look like a million bucks! <br />"

"From my first meeting at the store with Blair Murdock, to the final inspection of the finished floor given by him and the store owner (Joe), I was impressed. with both the service and the selection of product. Their contractors arrived on time for every appointment, and kept me updated on the progress. <br /> My job required all furniture removal, removal of old carpet & tack strip, undercutting of baseboards & patching up the paint on them, then finishing all of the doorways, etc., THEN replacing all of the furniture and 'hooking up all the electronic stuff. PHEW! They were <br /> I found their prices competitive and fair. <br /> The final results are beautiful and I would recommend them to anyone who appreciates good service, selection and competitive prices. Each crew was top drawer and very professional. <br />"

"overall, it went pretty well. <br /> it was a big project and we continued to add more things to it. <br /> pros: <br /> - travis was always professional and was always receptive to feedback on the work <br /> - with some exceptions, the work was completed at a reasonable level of quality.  some exceptional, some poor, but primarily good quality. <br /> - travis was always accommodating to change orders <br /> - travis was sincerely interested making sure we were happy with the results and was always open to fix things to  <br /> - the price of the work seemed reasonable <br /> cons: <br /> - travis sometimes had a difficult time managing his sub-contractors <br /> - travis was often over aggressive on his estimates to complete work, and frequently missed deadlines <br /> - during the year long project there were long stretches (weeks) of time when little or no work was done <br /> - the administrative management of the project turned out okay, but was not one of chimera's strong points <br /> the biggest positive was that we were generally happy with travis and the work completed. <br /> the biggest negative was that it took  <strong><em>significantly</em></strong> longer than estimated and deadlines were frequently not met. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Saint George, UT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
