"The seal Waterworks put between my driveway and my garage floor makes the driveway appear much more finished. I didn't know how unfinished it looked before I hired Waterworks. It looks much better now. My only concern is that the "filler" material is still soft 3 days later. I need to call the company to find out if that is a problem or no. They were also fast. The job was completed in about an hour."

"It went great. Wonderful communication on date and time they could accommodate us. The job was done top notch, the sidewalk and steps are great and it’s a pleasure to drive into the garage without having an issue with the sunken apron. I did have one question which was the holes they drilled to raise the areas are quite dark and I was it sure if they would “cure” to a lighter color or not. Greg was quick to respond to my question with a “usually they do”. They also caulked the gaps."

"Maybe they do amazing work, I have no idea. I called 3 times over the course of 2 weeks and submitted requests for estimates twice. I spoke with someone 2 or 3 times on the phone and each time I was either told to go submit a request on the website or that he remembered my note and would go find it and email me with a time to set up an appointment asap. It never went any farther than that. If you are too busy or have other things going on and can't respond, that's totally understandable but please just say so so I don't waste my time. I'm rating a C b/c I'm going on the assumption that SOMETHING was going on that would legitimately explain this otherwise inexcusable behavior."

"We used Northland Coating this year to seal coat our basement floor. It will last for decades. It all started when we had some basement flooding and then decided to use Luxury Vinyl Plank on our basement floor. We purchased the flooring (special order so it couldn't be returned) and then started tearing up carpeting and pad. What a disaster. Whoever glued the pad down must have danced across the floor with glue. Circular patterns, waves and open areas - no logic. The pad was a nightmare to get up, especially where they just seemed to pool the glue. But that wasn't the worst part. The floor was so uneven with lots of valleys and a really high spot in the middle. We couldn't lay the flooring on that. So we rented a grinder and tried to even out a lot of it. It was too much variance. I started calling places to level the floor with fill. Either they were booked out for 6-8 weeks or one company wanted $6000. Everyone else was $2400 - $3000. Then I obtained two quotes for sealing the floor instead. One of the companies we previously had done business with came in at almost double the price of Northland. Plus they wanted to speak to my husband too. Seriously, if I am paying why should you need to speak to anyone else? Northland was great. Justin came out and quoted our project. We were originally going to have most of the basement coated in 2 phases since we had very large items that couldn't be moved out (a piano was one of them). There was one area we were going to leave carpeted but ultimately we had the basement done in 3 phases. Scheduling was easy. It is a messy project as they do some additional grinding. They try to keep the dust to a minimum but it is dust and gets around. Justin gave me a link to the supply company and I was able to pick a custom mixed color for our floor. You can choose from many colors or design your own. You can also choose the flake size. The supply company also had a tool where you could upload your photo and show the floor color in that space. It was easy. Choose some texture in the floor or it will be slippery. The floor looks great. I even have the piano metal wheels just sitting on the floor and they are fine. We scratched the floor slightly moving a heavy object but it is hard to see unless the light hits it just right. This is a solid floor. It has been months now and it is holding up just fine. Plus it is waterproof. Jake and his team did a fine job. They completed all 3 phases and cleaned up nicely. We do have seams at the phase transitions but you won't have them if you complete the work in one phase. There was some chipping at the tile transition to the bathroom but Justin offered to pay to fix it. We just negotiated the price down for phase three. I was able to fix it myself using some supplies from Ace Hardware and a YouTube video."

"<p>These guys walk on water. First they show up on time!!! Second they are some of the nicest people we have ever met. The quality of work is beyond anything we could have hoped for.</p> <p>When the insurance company tried to pull a fast one with the settlement, Mike stepped up and went to bat for us and he fixed the problem with our insurance. It did not matter to him, he was going to get paid either way, but this is the kind of stand up guy Mike is.</p> <p>We where going to have the roof put on last fall, but Mike was concerned about the weather getting cold and encouraged us to wait until spring. He went up and repaired the problem areas and sealed the leaks so we could make it through the winter. Never charged us a dime.</p> <p>When it came time to do the roof, the material showed up on time, all the colors were correct. The crew showed up when they said they would be here and work hard all day. The clean up was incredible. I think the yard and landscaping was cleaner after they were here then before the work.</p> <p>We can not say enough great thinks about Mike and Over Under Construction. He is not only our only contractor going forward, but we consider him a friend.</p> <br />"

"Work was performed as expected in a timely manner and the floor looked great when the job was completed, but now two years later when we are having an issue with a crack in the floor, we are unable to get any response from the company. We have tried multiple phone calls and e-mails over a number of months without success. I am very disappointed that they are unwilling to provide customer support and assess what we might need to do to keep our garage floor from further damage."

"<p>When Linda came out to see our yard (a small South Minneapolis one), prior to providing a quote, we showed her the plans from the original landscaping job and said we were trying to get back to something as close to this as possible.  She declined to take the plans with her to assist in preparing her quote.  We mentioned that the old mulch would need to be taken out, and she said she would instead cover it with landscaping tarp and put the new mulch over it.  We pointed out that, because of wear and tear from our dogs, the old mulch would need to be leveled out if it was to be left under the new mulch.  The old mulch was not leveled out, and when I called her to complain she came over with the contract in hand, stated that she did not remember ever discussing leveling the old mulch, and that it was not in the contract and so was not something she had agreed to do.  She did do a minor fix on a small corner of the yard, but overall the new mulch was just spread over the old mulch as it was.  </p> <p>The yard has a rock border as well as a line of rocks in the middle of the yard.  The rocks in the middle of the yard were moved and replaced after the landscaping tarp and new mulch had been put down, but the rocks on the borders of the yard were simply covered over with landscaping tarp and mulch with a few rocks pulled from beneath to hold the tarp down.  The result was, to us, a very sloppy looking border that we have reworked ourselves over the course of the summer.</p> <p>The landscaping tarp that was put down under the mulch is of two different colors (grey and black) and might be of two different qualities although that is hard to say for sure.  We had mentioned a concern with the dogs running in the yard, and Linda assured us that the tarp would be held in place with landscape staples.  To us, these staples appear to have been placed very few and far between.</p> <p>Given the price that was charged, we expected a much more finished looking result than was provided.  While our primary objective of cleaning up what had become an eyesore was accomplished with the removal of the weeds and the laying down of new mulch, we would describe the overall job that was done in one word: sloppy.</p> <br />"

"The salesman, Jack, was very prepared for this spiel and quite persuasive. I got quotes from 3 other sources and Curb Creation was able to match the lowest one - $8.50/ft. Scheduling though took almost 4 weeks; too long in my mind. Also, the workers were good, knew what they were doing, but for a couple of things: 1. A couple of guys were smoking on the job 2. When I asked them to redraw one portion (this is just with the white paint) they seemed a bit put off with the "rework". Overall, I'd hire them again and recommend them."

"We hired Safe Basements to fix a problem with water leaching into our basement. One wall of the finished area of our basement doesn't have drywall/sheet rock, but instead has skim-coated mud and then paint directly on top of the cinder block. Since we moved into this house 5 years ago, we'd had water leaching in through that wall almost every year. We asked Safe Basements to come out and take a look, and they said that groundwater was filling up the cinder block, and that installing drain tile and a sump pump would direct the water into a trench and out of the house, thus fixing the problem. So, we hired them to fix it in November 2017, at a cost of about $5000. After they completed their work, we sanded down the previous damage to the wall, re-did the skim-coat, primed it and painted it to complete the repair ourselves. In March 2019, after all of the snow we got in February began to melt, we noticed that the paint on that same wall was completely blistered, with water once again leaching through the cinder block wall and breaking through the paint. It was exactly the same problem we thought was repaired. We called Safe Basements, and they visited twice. The person I spoke to over the phone said that sometimes the drain tile "system gets overwhelmed" and used "Act of God" to describe the heavy snowfall in February (language which is in the warranty and would ostensibly relieve them from any further responsibility). One of their staff who visited the house told us that the placement of our downspout outside of the wall would void the warranty, though the warranty materials do not address a specific distance requirement. They also pointed out that some water had come through our basement window, but that does not explain the water leaching through the cinder block. It seemed to us as if they were reaching for any reason to void their lifetime guarantee. However, regardless of whether the warranty is void or not, the most problematic issue for us is that upon viewing the new water damage, their staff told us that due to the nature of that finished wall, because it was mud over concrete as opposed to drywall with a vapor barrier, the concrete "couldn't breathe" and was therefore soaking up the water so it didn't flow to the trench that they'd installed below. This is exactly how the wall was when we first hired them, so we are at a loss as to why they either 1) didn't realize the construction of that wall in the first place, or 2) advised us to install drain tile that was apparently never going to effectively solve the original problem. We relied on their expert advice about how to address our problem, so we are disappointed that they sold us a solution that they reasonably should have known wouldn't work. Safe Basements has advised us to re-grade the exterior, which we have begun to do, and to either completely expose the cinder block on that wall (effectively unfinishing our basement) or install drywall (which isn't feasible due to the placement of a stairwell). The drain tile system is slowly working to some extent, and indeed, some of the blistering that caused us to call them has receded, but the blistered paint is still noticeable and needs to be fixed. So our original problem remains unsolved and we will incur more costs to repair that wall and try to keep water out of our basement. It seems to us that we could have just addressed the exterior grading in the first place rather than installing the drain tile, spending a fraction of the cost to get likely the same result."

FAQs for concrete flatwork repair & resurface projects in Saint Joseph, MN

When evaluating whether patching can address your concrete blemishes, it’s important to assess the extent of the damage. Minor issues such as small cracks or chipped areas may be effectively repaired with patching techniques that restore the surface’s appearance. However, if you notice widespread deterioration, significant cracks, or structural weakening, resurfacing is recommended as a more durable, long‑term solution. A thorough evaluation by a concrete specialist can help determine the best course of action for restoring your concrete to its optimal condition.

The optimal time to resurface your concrete driveway is late spring. This period benefits from warm temperatures and softened ground conditions following winter’s freeze‑thaw cycles, ensuring that the new overlay bonds securely and matures to a durable finish. Resurfacing at this time also enhances your property's safety and curb appeal. Engage a concrete professional to schedule your project during this ideal season.
