"C C Asphalt did an <strong><em>amazing</em></strong> job on my driveway - filled the cracks expertly, NO splash on walls or scrubs, trimmed the hedges so they could get to seal coat the curb ( without me even asking ) - i mean these men were the best and clearly take pride is <strong>excellent</strong> workmanship. I WILL use them again and <strong>Highly Recommended</strong>  to friends and neighbors ... PeaceLight"

"All went well. Mike and his employees are very nice to deal with. The second coat was completed on the second day. Looks great! My ratings speak for itself! Usually we have the driveways resealed every 2 yrs. Somehow, I let another yr. slip by, so it had been 3 yrs. and it showed! Back to our 2 maintenance and hope to have Mike as our go- to asphalt maintenance guy!"

"Randy was very nice to talk with and he knew exactly what we needed to get done. He was licensed and has insurance. Those were two of the qualifications needed in order for him to work on one of our clients homes. <br /> He came out to the home to access the damages and give us a quote. <br /> We worked around our clients schedule to proceed with the process. <br /> He was very accommodating and mentioned a few things that he could fix while he was there. <br /> Very helpful and we will probably use him again. <br />"

"I found Golden State on Angie's list. When contacted, Gary, the owner, came out and gave us an estimate. He was running a little late, but called to let us know when he would arrive. It took him a few days to work up the estimate as it was a complicated job. We had some roots to remove under our old driveway and wanted to expand it. We also wanted to retain a duct for siphoning off water and wanted some berms installed. <br /> We had a brief rain delay. However, Golden State kept in touch with us.. The day the job was to start, the crew arrived on time. Extra roots were removed over and above what we had contracted for. Also, extra asphalt was brought in just in case it was needed. They ended up paving more than what we had contracted for. The next day, the crew returned to put in a couple of berms. The site was completely cleaned up before they left. There was follow-up after the job was done and only after we were satisfied were we presented with an invoice. <br /> I found the crew to be professional and the job results exceptional. I would highly recommend using Golden State! <br />"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in San Luis Obispo, CA

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
