"The installation of our new ceiling lights was done efficiently and meticulously. They installed them on the weekend and were so thorough, we didn't even know they had been there, except our office is bright again! We will definitely hire them again for our future projects."

"Dan came out to the site, which is our son and daughter-in-laws home with a new child. 20 year old gas unit gave up the ghost and was in a poorly designed location. The added twist is we will do some renovation is summer and would need to relocate the unit, and Dans work anticipated that. He gave a quick explanation of what he would propose, followed with a written estimate, and his staff executed the work efficiently and without disruption. We upgraded from the minimum 80% efficiency to 95% and Dan's prices were within 8% of two others we spoke to, and the lowest, so I'm comfortable we got a realistic price. Happy to recommend him."

"They clean my chimney every winter/spring. I like their personal service. George is helpful and not pushy. He knows his stuff. they charge a little more than others for their basic service (chimney sweep) but he is very affordable on anything else you might need (I needed some cracks repaired and a new gas pipe). They are professionals and friendly. I like that he works with his sons.
George had installed some Solatube skylights in my hallway a couple years ago, and this year he "talked me" to get one more in the living room. They have really nice new ceiling fixtures... it looks great. He installed it at the same visit, even though I had not scheduled for that. no hustle, just happy to "Brighten my day" as he said.

Now I can enjoy nice evenings by the fire without worrying about safety, and during the day, my house is bright as day!
I recommend them for anything to do with fireplaces and also I highly recommend the Solatube skylight. It's a great way to get natural light.

"

"You'll have to search a while before finding someone as pleasant as Richard Blake. He and his son, John, are very friendly, personable people, and are willing to discuss and work with you on every detail of your project. The work they do is top notch, very clean, and thorough. They are willing to take care of things like picking up materials from the home goods store, taking delivery of items at the site, and hauling away all debris. They make the effort to cover furniture, walls, and flooring as they work, and they leave the area of work clean and as if they were never there. They are even willing to move furniture as necessary, and will make sure to do a walk-through to take care of any remaining items. I was going to be absent from my home while they were working, so it was important for me to be able to trust these guys. I would not only trust Richard in my home, I would trust him to watch my child (if I had one).
The only complaint I have is that Richard under-estimated the time it would take to do my job. He said 2 weeks, and it ended up being 3. A little of that time was taken up by discovery of termite damage that was unexpected and needed to be repaired. And of course, delays are part of life. But there was no way they would have been done in two weeks even with out that delay, even though he continuously told me he would have it finished on time, up to the last day of the two week period. Because time was such a factor for me, I even had to eliminate one aspect of the project because I knew they wouldn't be able to finish. It's not that Richard is dishonest; I believe he wants to tell you what you want to hear, without fully thinking through all of the time-related implications. And then he is hesitant to come clean about the true amount of time it will take when he realizes there will be a delay, because he doesn't want to disappoint you.
I would definitely recommend Paso Robles Handyman; his prices are good, his work is quality and he is a very pleasant, honest individual. I would only advise to press him on all the details of his schedule, and to add plenty of time to what he estimates.
"

"I called yesterday to have them look at my furnace after another company couldn't fix it and recomended replacement. Chris arrived this morning on time. He spent about an hour and a half and found the problem. It wasn't getting air because of a blocked inlet duct, so it was shutting down when it ran out of oxygen. He charged $210 as advertised and saved me about $5000 for the new furnace I almost bought. Highly recommend. Honest, reasonable and competent.
"

"Mike was great in listening to what we wanted and making suggestions. He didn't try to oversell us items we didn't need. For example, we felt our cabinets were fine and he agreed. We asked if we should reface them and he told us that refacing cabinets can be labor intensive and doing so isn't a way to save money. Another designer said that putting new countertops on existing cabinets was "tacky" and yet my kitchen looks amazing as if the counters and cabinets were installed together. Mike's team was careful and didn't make one mark on the cabinets when they took off the old counter.
I liked all the sub work as well. Glass tile looked great, the quartz countertops were perfect, and the electrical and plumbing work was done well, too. They installed the new appliances quickly and we've had no issues so far.
Everyone showed up on time or contacted us if they were going to be late (which was rare -- I believe we had just one day where the electrician had to reschedule). They kept dust to a minimum by putting up plastic to contain the area and cleaned up every day before they left, both inside and out. Total job took about 3 weeks, just like Mike said.
I would definitely recommend Cal Coast Construction and will use them in the future.
"

"Here's what actually happened:

1. Noticing our gas fireplace, the vendor asked if we'd like it checked for carbon monoxide. With his sensor he found detectable (5-8 ppm) CO just above the glass doors when the doors were open and fire on. He said that any number other than "0" was not acceptable and that the fireplace should not be used with the doors open.
2. The vendor then looked at our vent and after a brief investigation said that they could not clear it. He said that under slab vents were problematic and recommended venting through the wall or ceiling and offered to provide a bid if we wanted to go forward. Meantime he said the dryer should not be used.
3. On the Internet we found a company selling a drill-driven vent cleaning brush. It cost about $80. With it we were able to clear the vent in a couple of hours (we have no experience cleaning dryer vents).
4. We DID NOT CALL the vendor asking for a refund. RATHER we SENT a two-page letter describing how we solved the problem and asking for a refund.
5. We recently heard from the vendor and he was emphatic that he never received our letter. Subsequently we had a long talk with him and re-sent the original letter along with updated information. The vendor was quite apologetic and promptly sent a refund of the $89 fee we had paid for the visit (less than what would have been charged had the vent been cleared).
6. Our dryer continues to perform fine.
7. The vendor has agreed in a letter sent to us that in the future discussions with customers regarding "low levels of CO spillage" customers will be informed that some manufacturers may deem small amounts of CO spillage acceptable while others may not. And he said he would urge that the manufacturer be consulted.
8. We placed a sensitive CO monitor we got at Home Depot next to our fireplace. So far it has never detected any CO. (The alarm is supposed to go off if levels are above 30 ppm.

Based on the recent response and the refund our original ratings have been adjusted. The vendor has been in business 30 years and maintains that their primary interest is the safety of customers. We accept this and appreciate that our awareness has been raised regarding risks associated with fireplaces and dryer vents.

ORIGINAL > .This company told us they could not clean the vent with a brush so that they would have to do major construction just to clean the vent. We used the brush to clean it ourselves, finding out his story was not true. The worker did not hook up our dryer correctly after the job, which caused a fire hazard. We asked him to refund some of our money, however, he never even returned our calls."
