His team came in and plastic'd over everything (and I mean *everything*) so that no dust ended up on our pictures, kitchen, or anywhere else for that matter. The end result was better than I had expected - 20 years of life, dogs, beach sand, etc had brought many areas of the floor down to bare wood and very dulled finish (where any finish was left) - the brought it back to its former glory. Great work and I will definitely call them again if needed."

"If you are looking for a quality and dustless job when refinishing your hardwood floors talk to Calvin at C H Hardwood floors. The quality of Calvin's work was impeccable. Calvin told us he learned the trade from his dad and has 25 years of experience. Our hardwood floors were sanded down to the raw wood, treated, and we chose not to put a stain on the oak. Calvin cut and installed new baseboards. The result was beautiful. Now let's talk "dust free". Everyone said it can not be done. Calvin proved us all wrong. He has invested in some state of the art equipment so when he is sanding the floors all the dust is contained in some kind of tubing and goes into a machine. There truly was not any dust residue left on the mirrors and shelves that were still in the room. We have lived through our hardwood floor being refinished in another home, and if I did not experience this dustless method I would not have believed it. Other companies we interviewed for the job said we had to move out for at least a week. Not so with C H Floors. While we were gone during the days it was not a problem to use the kitchen and sleep in our home in the evenings. The estimate Calvin quoted us was comparable with the other estimates we received. Plan on refinishing your floors every seven to 10 years to keep them looking their best. If you spot heavy scratches, sun-faded boards, water stains, or a thinning finish in high-traffic areas, consider moving up the timeline. A quick check each season lets you catch trouble early and protect the wood for the long haul.
You can skip full sanding only if the finish is still in great shape. In that case, your hardwood flooring pro can lightly buff the surface and apply a fresh topcoat. You can maintain regular sweeping and vacuuming to keep grit at bay. But if you see wax buildup, dents, or deep scratches, sanding is a must. Otherwise, the new coat will highlight every flaw.
Sweep or dust-mop every few days, then follow up with a slightly damp microfiber mop and a cleaner specifically designed for wood floors—avoid anything harsh that can strip the finish. For stubborn marks, rub lightly with fine steel wool and a bit of mineral spirits, then buff with wax. Adding blinds or curtains also shields boards from sun-fade and keeps the color even.
