"Christopher came out and found where it was coming from and made sure it was a small area but said they'd have to open up a wall to see how far back it went. He also identified where the water was coming from. My husband (who is handy) opened up the wall and repaired the leak. Christopher came back out to bid the project. After reviewing what my husband had opened up and removed, he was able to determine we did not need any work done and could patch it back up. Didn't charge us anything. The staff was responsive, Christopher was thorough (checking other rooms including downstairs ceiling area) and professional. We would definitely hire them if the mold had extended further - and are grateful for the knowledge and peace of mind that they provided to us."

"My wife and I contacted James for a home inspection and a Radon test. He answered the phone on the second ring and was willing to give pricing over the phone, which we found more than fair given his expertise when it comes to inspections. Come to find out he has almost 2 decades of experience and it shows. Due to COVID-19, only an inspector and real estate agent were permitted in the house at the time of inspection. After completion, he called and in detail covered all of his findings and took the time to explain how features worked or didn't, (like a hybrid heat system.) He even took the time to educate us on energy efficiency improvements that could be made if we so chose. The next day we received our inspection report which was amazing. We could tell by the details included that he did not just copy and paste from prior inspections. He definitely took the time to make sure everything was well documented. The amount of money that we saved by having a thorough report in purchasing our home was one of the best returns on investments we have ever seen. We will definitely be using Associated Inspection Firm, Inc. in the future."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"James arrived at our home right at the appointed time we had set up only one day previous.  We appreciated his punctual and most friendly service.  His most kind explanation of all that he was looking for, finding and what needed to be done or what was found to be just fine also.  Always nice to learn what is acceptable about electrical work in your home.  He did find a real fire hazard in one very old and poorly installed outlet.  When we saw the concern there, we ask that he come back and check further for us.  He installed new outlets where needed.  Provided all the materials and his expertise without issue or concern.  <br /> We had other needs, such as a circuit box for a generator plug in case of power outage at our home.  He will work on a bid for that as well as more plug in safety issues.  Less kitchen and family room electric outlets and lights on one circuit breaker. <br /> We were most impressed with his quick work, yet cautious checking and instructions that help us to understand and know better what to watch with electric in our home.  <br /> We have had electricians worth us in our previous homes in the last 30+ years and found James' company to be the most efficient, thoughtful and economical company ever!  He had come to help us with an installation electricity for a booster fan for our forced air duct system.  That has saved us so much money on utility bill and much warmer in the bedrooms farthest from the furnace.  A great idea and he had to have it running whenever the furnace come on and is blowing.  It is a great addition to our home also.  <br /> Want to save money, understand your electrical situation better and enjoy the professional confidence in your choice?  Do call Elec Tech Company!!   You will not be disappointed. <br />"

"We had hired apex this last summer for house hunting. When the big rains came, we had some water come into the crawlspace of our new home. I trusted our previous inspector (Don from apex) so I called apex and they sent him out the next day. He spotted the leakage during his exam. Because of the long hot summer we had and then some torrential rain, the problem had become apparent. We really appreciated the speed of their service. Thanks apex and Don. Good job!"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Sandy, OR

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
