"5++ stars! My home's exterior was cracking due to a poor job prior and drainage issues. Tom and Adam and the team not only gave me peace of mind moving forward with drainage, put in gutters, and re-did the entire exterior of my home (stained wood and stucco), but made it beyond beautiful!! They were communicative, timely, so easy to work with, and the end product is gorgeous. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a construction project done and can't wait to use them again on my next project!!"

"I've used Avalin Design Construction Co. for at least two jobs on our properties, including one seismic retrofit. Both times, Fred and his team have done an outstanding job from start to finish. They came to our house to do the estimates for free and provided them in a timely manner with a detailed description of what they’d be doing. The work crews executed the tasks to perfection, and Fred also took care of all the required permits. For the seismic retrofit project, they even handled all the documentation required by EBB. They are simply awesome, and I highly recommend them."

"From the moment I met Guy, I sensed he was very different from other contractors with whom I'd worked....and it was true. He wrote down, in detail, everything that was to be done and it was all completed beautifully and in a timely manner. He brought in superb craftsmen and treated them with great respect, something I've found lacking in other contractors with whom I've worked. Whenever I had a question, he responded promptly and visited often to make sure I was pleased with the work. He even built a custom support for an under-mount sink when the one provided by the manufacturer proved flimsy--something that wasn't even included in our contract! I'd developed some trust issues over the last couple years as a result of working with dishonest contractors or those whose work was of a poor quality. Guy renewed my faith. He is an honest, kind, skilled man and I will never use another contractor. Thank you, Guy!"

"I had a really ugly experience with contractors in the past so I had been very careful who I choose this time as my contractor. For you who had construction in the past probably knows what I'm talking about and for those who hadn't have one consider yourself lucky. Someone I trust had recommended Eric's company to me but I still worry about getting another nightmare construction, so I wanted to start with my bathroom before getting into something bigger. Initially he said it won't take more than a month but depend on inspection which I understand sometimes couldn't schedule inspector to come right away. It actually took them about 2 weeks of full work to finish the job and the whole process was smooth. Couldn't believe how efficient their crew was. It's very organized, never waste a day as the crew work from 7.30 - 5, carefully lining and protect the floor and other walls, always cleans after each day and the quality of work is excellent. I'm not gonna lie of course there was a bump along the way but what impressed me is how Eric handles it. Once we encountered a problem with fabricator, he did good job but the opening cut for sink was a little bit to small for my sink size. I called Eric and told him the situation, right away he had the fabricator came the next day and had them fixed exactly what I wanted. Without hassle. You know a lot of contractor would try to get away with it or try to convince you that it's okay so they don't have to do extra work but Eric always make sure I get everything exactly the way I wanted. I'm very pleased with Eric and his crew. Never imagine that doing remodeling could be this easy. Now I'm not hesitate to have him do the job for the entire house. I'll keep you guys update once they finish the next job."

"First and foremost, Pete and his crew are all good guys, courteous, pleasant to talk with, and very hard working. No doubt about it, they know their stuff! Their concrete work is second to none. The finished product is some of the best I've seen. There were two minor issues. One, they damaged a Honeysuckle that was goring over the water spigot trying to access the water spigot. Partly my fault, Knowing how much water it takes for concrete finishing work, I should have pointed it out on the first day. I had to hack down almost all of bush/vines to free the wire trestle to bend the trestle back into shape. Also while they were rooting around for the hose bib they knocked off of the control box for my auto-watering system. A quick reconnect of the control box and all was well. The Honeysuckle has recovered nicely. So... Initially frustrating, in the long run, no harm. Two is he quoted me $3,800.00 for the job. On the day before the pour he told me he ordered a higher grade of concrete and asked for $200.00 more. Now, from my perspective (both professionally and personally) an additional 5.5% on a change order is not unexpected and reasonable so I said fine, no problem. That ate the tip I had planned on giving them anyway so it didn't cost me any more than I planned. And I got a concrete pad I can park an M1A2 Abrams on should the need arise. I highly recommend them. In fact, when I can afford it, I will call Pete back to do my driveway... This time I'll show him where the hose bib is from the front. :-)"

FAQs for concrete foundation repair projects in Santa Barbara, CA

Visible cracks, water leaks, uneven floors, or walls that won’t line up are classic red flags. You might also notice sticking windows, doors that no longer latch, or exterior cracks crawling up brick or siding. Even a damp, musty basement can hint at trouble. If you spot any of these, call a foundation pro right away. Early inspections cost far less than waiting until the damage threatens your home’s stability.

Yes, foundation problems impact your home’s value. Buyers want proof that the foundation is stable, and a recent, professional repair can actually boost confidence in your home. You’ll need to disclose the work, but documentation showing the structure was properly stabilized, especially with piers in regions known for shifting soil, often reads as a plus, not a problem. Skipping repairs, on the other hand, can cut your sale price and shrink the pool of interested buyers. Taking care of the issue protects both value and peace of mind.

Foundations are engineered for exceptional longevity when constructed correctly and maintained diligently. Concrete slab foundations remain structurally sound for 200 years, while other foundation types deliver integrity between 75 and 100 years. Regular professional inspections and timely maintenance further secure a foundation’s lifespan and ensure your home stays safe over the long term.
