"I couldn't be happier with the service provided by J and J Electric. From start to finish, their team was knowledgeable, trustworthy, and transparent. They responded to my project submission almost immediately and provided a detailed estimate in no time. Throughout the project, they went above and beyond to ensure everything was done to perfection. Their professionalism and dedication truly set them apart. I was surprised how quickly they finished the job. Highly recommend J and J Electric for any electrical needs! Project Details: Replace old panel, meterbase, and service entrance/weatherhead that was damaged due to water dripping into panel. Instaled (2) dedicated receps in basement. "Diagnosed a failure of the Aquastat, which replacement was quoted as $1325. The technician was professional and competent, and said for the age of this boiler and the expense for the suggested repair, it might make sense to get a new boiler. An appointment was set up for someone else to come and quote the full replacement for comparison. I called another service company who came the same day and initially diagnosed the same problem, but made some additional checks on the furnace damper, which he found to be out of position and so the sensors weren’t activated. Once he made a manual change of the damper, he turned the electric power back on and the damper automatically turned and located to a correct position and then the boiler burners ignited and the furnace operated correctly again."

"Three years ago, Jimmy did a a new entrance box at my former location. After I moved, I hired him to do a serious panel upgrade and replaced electrical wiring in the basement of my house that was built in 1938. I trusted him 100%. His explanation of what needed done, and was done on time, was a plus to his integrity and professionalism."

"Although this review and my comments should have been done months ago I was delayed because of a water line/drain line massive problem that took my time. ANYHOW, Erie was a pleasure to have in my home as his demeanor and knowledge was so very 'on spot' with the two electrical project I wanted done. It was impressive that after our meeting at my house, or which he was, as said great to discuss issues with and to my appreciation ,,,, kept me updated on his workings with the city of Pittsburgh to get my one major project done. He will be used for both the electrical major project. Also, his bids for one of the two jobs was absolutely the lowest of the contractors,,,and within what I thought the job cost would be. I WILL BE HIRING HIM TO DO MY JOBS AND RECOMMEND HIS INITIAL SERVICE. I will keep you updated after the projects get started and through completion. GREAT JOB ERIC!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Sarver, PA

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
