The technician was professional and competent, and said for the age of this boiler and the expense for the suggested repair, it might make sense to get a new boiler. An appointment was set up for someone else to come and quote the full replacement for comparison. I called another service company who came the same day and initially diagnosed the same problem, but made some additional checks on the furnace damper, which he found to be out of position and so the sensors weren’t activated. Once he made a manual change of the damper, he turned the electric power back on and the damper automatically turned and located to a correct position and then the boiler burners ignited and the furnace operated correctly again."
