"We have used Hayes Plumbing for over 15 years. Jim, Linda's dad, and Linda did a new water line for us.  They volunteered on a Habitat For Humanity House we were involved with. <br /> Hayes Plumbing has installed a faucet, fixed my leaky shower, re-plumbed my house including new waste lines, installed a new gas line at a different house for us. Most recently help us out with a bad floor drain. <br /> They have done work for folks on my block and for my friends. I have never heard anything but good things about them.  They are prompt, professional and experienced. They provided advice and alternatives, which have saved us money both in the short and long term. <br />"

"For the 20 years we have been in our house, we used The Kitchen Master for our kitchen, our master bathroom, our hall bathroom and the best **** mud room you will ever see. Jennifer is an extraordinary designer and Ted is a perfectionist who will make sure his team delivers top notch work. For our first project, the kitchen, we ordered the cabinets through The Kitchen Master but had our own contractor install them. Big mistake! A few years later when Ted came to the house for the next project, he was so disappointed with how my contractor hung the kitchen cabinets that he fixed them for me. I’ve never used anyone else since. We haven’t had a major project in about 5 years but when I decided to sell my house, I needed a few things fixed to make everything look great. Some water damage below the sink had warped that cabinet, a toe kick was beyond a simple touch-up, and then I broke a glass pane in one of the kitchen cabinets 2 weeks before showings were to start. Ted and his team hopped right on it when I called. They didn’t have to do that. My work wasn’t going to be a big money maker and I’m moving out of state so there isn’t the promise of a lot of work in my next house. But none of that mattered. Ted and his team made me feel like they always make me feel - like my project was the most important one in the world."

"Excellent prompt affordable service. <br /> I was contacted directly by Patrick, the owner, over the holiday weekend. <br /> He quickly scheduled an appointment for Tuesday after the long weekend. Once he assessed the work needed, he got me a great price. <br /> By Wednesday morning, he and his team had installed a new garbage disposal and new toilet. All the work was done quickly and while I was at work. They got everything done properly and left no mess behind. It was a seamless process and I am very satisfied with the results. I will be using them again for any plumbing issues. <br /> I highly recommend this service. <br />"

"He and his assistant were very professional, got the job done in a timely manner. Also said if there were any issues whatsoever to contact him and he would fix it straight away. Going to have him work on lights and some electrical issues in the house. Will definitely recommend him. Despite him being 45 mins away, he was able to work us in. He actually called and had an opening the very next day due to someone canceling, but we had not picked out our faucet yet or else it would have been done next day. Thank you again, Ricky. <br />"

"We had water back-up in our basement and didn't know if it was sewage or just water back-up, since we had recently had lots of flooding in our area. The technician explained that since our house had sat empty for 2 years, all the sludge in the pipes settled at the bottom, and needed to be cleared out. We shouldn't have this problem again. He explained what the problem was, and what he was going to do in order to fix it. And then - we forgot our checkbook, and only had $117 in cash on us - and our total was $145.00. He was just going to accept the $117 and be done with it, but we insisted that we'd pay the next day. This was a great transaction, and we will definitely recommend this company to anybody that needs a plumber. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Sciota, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
