"We recently had drive way damage from a cable installer. We used Coughlin Development Concrete and Excavation. 618-781-1102. We have nothing but the highest praises for them. There bid was remarkable. They let us add on a few things. They were quick and efficient. The driveway looks incredible. 5 Stars all around. They originally said the end of sept. but with a cancellation started 9/4. Thanks and Best Wishes to your team Jim."

"Excellent!! I cannot recommend Andy and his crew highly enough; they are THAT GOOD! I used Andy for a huge project done in two stages over two years. Here is why you need look no further: - Andy is a man of integrity; a man of his word. - Andy only does work right. Not per "industry standard" or "meets code"; he does it right. - If Andy is not satisfied with how something turns out, he tears it out out and does it over. It happened in the work I had done. Not a big deal, but it would have resulted in a puddle. I never said anything; he just did it. Tore out an entire section of the patio the day after it was poured. It cost me no more. I was stunned. - Andy sincerely wants the customer to me happy. He listens, he discusses the merits, he suggests. Based on my experience, you can trust his counsel. We worked together to solve a multitude of problems I wanted the work to address; all of my needs were covered, and all work great. Also replaced driveway and rerouted all drainage away from foundation to street. - Andy is fair, and tries to work within your budget where possible. My job presented lots of challenges. Concrete is not cheap, but I feel I got a good deal, all things considered. - Andy is honest; if he specs a 4" pour, you get a minimum of 4". If he says there will be rebar and wire mesh, that is what you get. From what I have seen of other work, that is not typical. APM doesn't cut corners. - Andy is a good guy. Plain and simple. - I can't count the number of times friends and neighbors, when looking at what I had done, have volunteered "wow, your concrete people really did a good job!" Look at the other reviews. There is a reason for such high praise."

"We were impressed by the quick & smooth adjustments S & S made when concrete delivery & rain problems stopped the planned schedule. S & S returned as promised on the next work day. Again they adjusted quickly when the incorrect concrete mixture arrived. They waited for the correct mixture, & began and finished the work as promised. The steps look good & smooth, & we are pleased."

"Emilio and his crew were courteous and professional. They arrived on time and finished on time. They did a fantastic job. Iâ  m thrilled with the finished product. We extended our driveway and added a concrete pad to the back of the house for our hot tub. After the job was complete, they cleaned up everything."

"HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: I'm so glad we chose Alliance Contracting to update our 90 year old home. John provided exceptional quality and value for our money, and gave us the signature look we'd been dreaming of. Despite many surprises (collapsing ceiling, disintegrating drain pipe, uneven floor, non-plumb walls) Alliance transformed our good old house into an exceptionally functional and beautiful home oasis."

"Professional from start to finish. Clearly explained what he would do, what materials he would use, what risks were involved (like damage to my yard from the Bobcat), how long it would take. Answered all my questions. Coordinated work with electrical and irrigation work that was being done at the same time. When we made a change at the last minute, he handled it without missing a beat. We're very pleased with the result."

FAQs for concrete driveways & floors installation projects in Scott-afb, IL

Whether terrazzo is better than porcelain or ceramic tiles for a kitchen or bathroom floor depends on your design preference. Terrazzo can last a long time, but so can a properly installed ceramic tile floor. According to the National Association of Home Builders, the lifespan of a ceramic tile floor is 75 to 100 years, similar to terrazzo.

You should clean terrazzo floors like you would marble, even if there’s no marble in the aggregate. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the polished surface, and steer clear of acidic cleaners like vinegar, which can damage the surface. Instead, use plain water or a neutral cleaner to mop the floor. Then, use a wet vac or squeegee to remove the dirty water. Regular buffing with a soft cloth can help you maintain the shine.

Terrazzo is made by mixing an aggregate like glass or stone with a binder like cement or epoxy. The mix is made and poured into the prepared space you designate. Alternatively, you can purchase prefabricated terrazzo tiles, which consist of similar materials. They’re poured into a mold and cured before installation.

You can add radiant heating under a terrazzo floor, which is an excellent way to combat the naturally cold surface of terrazzo floors. Installing radiant heating costs $1,653 to $6,656. You'll want to install the heating elements under the thin-set epoxy because the layer is thin enough for the warmth to conduct through the floor.

Making your own terrazzo can be a tricky DIY project. The exact mix takes a blend of art and skill to create and requires the expertise of a terrazzo pro. The wrong blend could crack, peel, or break easily, requiring expensive repairs. Finishing and polishing the floor also requires previous experience to achieve a professional appearance. Expect to pay between $200 and $2,500 for the cost of restoring and polishing floors.

Terrazzo flooring is eco-friendly because it is crafted using recycled materials such as glass, marble, and polished metal, and its epoxy binder emits no VOCs once cured. This sustainable manufacturing approach minimizes waste and supports green building practices. Homeowners gain an attractive flooring option, contributing to healthier indoor air quality and environmental conservation.
