"The servicemen were knowledgeable and even fixed my electrical panel that was falling off the wall. The customer service is great and I will be continuing using this company for maintenance on my generator. I am very pleased and have peace of mind with this generator"

"Mike came out and worked through the entire weekend to make sure he finished the job. He showed up when he promised, he did all the work that he promised and even with some slight changes/additions he did the job and didnâ t try to â nickel and dimeâ me. He took on a big job at a very REASONABLE PRICE compared to anyone I had come out for estimates. Most guys didnâ t want to touch the job due to the fact itâ s a much older home, but Mike took on the challenge without hesitation. New outlets (indoors and outdoors) patio lights, motion detection lights, ceiling fans (no prior wiring) and pendant lights in the kitchenâ -knocked it out the park! After every job, he showed his work and made sure I was happy. I deal with contractors all day at work and Mike by far is the best Iâ ve dealt with in my career. Great communication, on budget and completes on the dates promised. Professional, knowledgeable and genuinely good people. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Mike for any and all electrical needs!"

"I asked for a team to install and wire 8 kitchen can lights. Great professional team that came in on time, did a great job protecting the kitchen, finished the job in less than 2 hours, and cleaned up behind themselves entirely. They charged a very reasonable price, and made the whole project as smooth and seamless as possible. Definitely recommend for your project."

Small jobs welcome

"C.J. was very professional, very skilled and did an excellent job installing two heavy chandeliers - one to replace an old one and one to be moved to center over the kitchen table. I was amazed at how he went about his job; he was very precise and very careful to get the job done right and to our satisfaction. I was also very impressed with this young man who not only did a great job but did it all my himself, prepped the site and cleaned it after the work was done. I would recommend him for any electrical job. Theresa A."

"I posted for quotes on an urgent job around 7 AM on Sunday morning. Ryan called within minutes. By noon, the job had been professionally completed. They were fast, friendly, thorough and affordable. I will definitely call them for other projects and will recommend them yo friends, family, neighbors, anyone who needs electrical work. They were cleaning up after their work before anyone else even called."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Scranton, PA

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
