"Aaron showed us some carpet in the shop and gave good advice on various carpet types. We arranged for him to come to the house to measure up and quote us a price. Unlike the big home improvement stores the estimate was free. The two installers came on time and did an excellent job. We had already removed the old carpet ourselves so that I could remedy some squeeks in the floor before the new carpet was laid. Removing the carpet and disposing of it ourselves saved about $150. Altogether it took about 4 hours for the install. The price was good. We had a previous quote for a similar carpet for about $400 more."

"First time using this company and had a great experience! They came when scheduled, were professional and courteous, and performed the cleaning without any problems. My carpet is over 10 years old and looked dingy...the technician did a beautiful job of making it look new again! Thank you!"

"It went great, as usual! I've been using this Ross' company for years. I have to admit, my husband had called another carpet company last fall (without my knowledge) and I was horrified. I decided to let it go and give my husband control of something domestic in the house. Of course, the other company was terrible and our carpets did not look clean at all. Lesson learned from my husband that Ross is the best carpet cleaner in Indianapolis! I was so excited for him to come and clean my cream colored carpet as I have 2 dogs (one of which pukes a lot and the other who still has piddle accidents), 2 children and I was actually ready to buy new carpet, it looked so terrible! Ross let himself into my house through the garage code (this is how much I trust this man) and made my carpet look BRAND NEW! It's been a few week and it still looks fantastic. I would have Ross clean my carpet once a month if I could afford it. He does a fantastic job, is trustworthy and always on time. You will not be disappointed! <br />"

"This is the third time I have had PHD out to clean carpets. They are wonderful at getting stains out and cleaned the stairs to look like new. I appreciate that they don't move all the furniture but are able to get the main areas cleaned up and looking great."

"It was a great experience. They were able to come out quickly and lay the carpet the day after I picked the it out. They were very professional, had a nice selection and the work came in on price. They were informative and gave suggestions on the best options for basement carpeting."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Shelbyville, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
