"I contacted Cliff and he was out in a couple of days and inspected and measured my roof. He provided me with an estimate within a couple of days and also gave me the opportunity to put on a high impact shingle for slightly more cost that provided me with a 125.00 savings per year on my home insurance. He also did all the work submitting a claim on my old shingles that resulted in a claim check coming to me last week. I was very pleased to have someone knowledgeable of what and how to properly submit a claim. The job was done in one day and appears to be well done. The cleanup was very good. I found only a few nails and scraps around the house. If I have any complaint the cost ended up about 10% more than he estimated but that price was still less than several other estimates I got. So I am not complaining about that just mentioning that. Cliff and his crew provided a very stress free experience getting this job done as requested.
"

"After 10+ years since building our home, it was definitely needing a paint job. We hired Scholten Construction as they were able to replace our cracked siding boards, paint our house, plus stain our deck, all for a competitive bid. We got more than we asked for! These guys did an amazing job; they were polite, friendly, tidy, and took a lot of pride in their work. When we had a hiccup regarding our trim color (we gave them the wrong color), they were flexible, patient, and started over like it was no big deal. They moved all of our deck and patio furniture for us, and even swept my front porch twice AND cleaned up the dirt I spilled from planting my flower pots ? If you are in the same boat with your home needing a fresh coat of paint, we highly recommend these guys. Literally can't say enough good things!"

"Arrived promptly on time. Concrete started out a little thick, driver went the extra yard to mix water in for better consistency & work-ability. This was my first time ordering concrete, the driver (Alan) was very knowledgeable and helpful - gave us some tips & pointers on leveling and pouring. Even helped us distribute the concrete around a bit. Would order concrete from this company again & would ask for the same driver.
"

"The experience was great. It took one day. There was minimal mess. No heavy equipment involved. We had this done in May and I waited over the summer to write a review. So far things look great. No signs of any settling or cracking issues. Many friends have remarked how great this looks and some have had it done in our area as well.
"

"Gary McCollars crew got it done in 2 days. Framed it out on the first day. Then poured on the second day. Rebar and fiber added. Weather cooperated. Falling leaves were a bit of a hassle, but they got it done. They came back later after they finished it, to cover it with plastic, because it was hit or miss on the weather radar for storms popping up. Didn't want it ruined.
Gary has a larger crew of about 6 guys, so they could get it done in one continuous pour.
They came back and filled in the edges, where the forms were, with some top soil. The top soil had a fair number of really hard large chunks in it. But a minor issue. I just chopped them up with a flat blade shovel.
Yes, it was expensive. But he has a larger crew to pay. Small jobs can be done with just two guys. But a large driveway like this needs the extra hands to get it done quick and in one continuous pouring.
They cleaned up good. The driveway looks great. I am sure it will last a longgggg time.
Out of the 4 concrete guys I contacted, Gary was the only one to give me a bid. Two did not respond at all. And one other came out and talked to me, but never submitted a bid.
Gary has done other driveways in the area here and they look great.
I would not hesitate to call him again if I need more flat work done.

"

"To Expert House Movers
We wanted to let you know just how pleased we are with the work you did on our house. Before we contacted you, we had several other contractors look at our home. We actually had hired another contractor, who took such a long time, never returned our calls, missed meetings, and took months to even get us our bid. And when that contractor did get us our bid, it was more than doubled our previously discussed budget!
That is when we called you, you came out immediately, was extremely professional, but more importantly, you had a personal interaction with both me and my wife throughout the entire process. You answered all our phone calls, all of our questions, and talked with us throughout the entire process. We felt extremely confident and assured through the entire lift. This house is our dream house and we are going to live in it until we die, and you knew how much it meant to us, and you took care of it as if it were your own.
As you know, my wife ended up in the hospital with some complications with her surgery while you were working on our home, and you took such great care of our house. You knew she was very disappointed that she could not be there, as she designed the foundation window placements and had a big part in the doors and steps. Your crew was so kind and so professional and meticulous, that they knew that two particular windows were very important to my wife. Your crew wanted to get them perfect and asked me some questions about them, that I could not answer. My wife was feeling better, but still in the hospital, and I called her on the phone, while your crew waited for me, as she and I discussed for several minutes the exact placement of the windows. Some minor changes had to be made and your crew could have easily just slapped the two windows in the new location, which was only slightly off of the original plan, and be done with it, but they stopped and pointed out where my wife originally wanted them and the new location difference and wanted to be sure that my wife understood the change, and wanted me to talk to my wife first. I was so very impressed that they made the adjustments on the spot that my wife suggested over the phone. I don’t think any other company would have gone through this much trouble to please their customers!
You also were very respectful of our property, neighbors, and your crew were always very willing to stop and explain the process of what was going to happen next. Not one time did we ever feel like we were in your way. Actually, it was the opposite, we felt like you and your crew were very excited to show us your equipment and how it worked and actually wanted us around so we could see how it all worked and so we could see for ourselves how everything was perfect - and it was!
We will always remember you and think of you so highly. Thank you for making the beginning our home building so easy and off to such a perfect start. There are so many things that can go wrong when redoing a home, and having it go off with such a perfect start gives us such great hope. You have certainly set bar very high for the other contractors that will be coming in for the other parts of the home! Your company and its crew should be very proud of its work. You do a job that is very difficult, complex and tedious, but you do it with care, expertise, and perfection. We actually miss you guys and wish you were around. You are like family to us. We only wish we could rate your service and staff A++ , if there were such a rating.
All our best and blessings,
Randy and Elizabeth
"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Sioux Falls, SD

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
