"We were so impressed with Jimmy the Junk Man and highly recommend him. He came when he said that he would come, he was efficient in removing the items, he recycles what he can, and boy does he work fast! He brought one helper with him and they made removing the items seem effortless. We would definitely use his services again. Great guy!"

"I have a deck with lattice panels that were worn out and coming apart. I wanted all of the lattice and supporting woodwork taken down and removed. I was given an estimate over the phone and was able to schedule the job for the next day. The guys called and arrived when they said they wood, did all the work I wanted, cleaned up, and took it all way for the quoted amount. They were very professional and did a great job. <br /> I will highly recommend these guys and will use them again if I have a need! <br />"

"I called for an appointment to have 2 large, heavy sofa beds removed from my second floor. The 2 men, Greg and Tyson, were delayed but kept me informed as to possible time of arrival. Despite arriving several hours after the scheduled time, they apologized for the delay. I was impressed with their professionalism and efficiency. They were able to maneuver one large sofa through a doorway that original movers had great difficulty with. They were able to get the sofas down a flight of stairs that had two 90 degree turns. They took extreme caution to not damage walls, floors or baseboards. Greg used his hands to prevent the beds from touching the walls. It truly was amazing to watch how carefully they were able to move both very heavy sofas. I inquired as to what happens with the products they remove . They explained that items that are potentially usable are taken to their warehouse where several different non-profit organizations may come to pick up items for them to use. Large items such as sofa beds generally are not picked up by many non-profit organizations. I would have no hesitation to use this company again."

"The weather was really bad this day but Ed the gentleman who owns and operates the company called and said he would come out even though the roads were bad, He showed up on time and had the materials loaded up quickly and was very friendly to work with. I will absolutely use A1 Hauling again for my next project. His prices are competitive with the Bagster service but doesnt require me to leave a giant green bag of construction materials on my front lawn for weeks. <br />"

"These guys were great!  My mother and I hired them to clean out my brother's apartment after he passed away.  They were early and hustled through what was probably well over 100 garbage bags (contractor size) and other big items.  They needed to make three trips total, but the owner took the truck to dump it while his co-worker stayed behind and continued moving stuff out of the house into the yard.  It was a very smooth process and they were done in about two hours. <br />"

FAQs for waste, junk, building materials and debris removal and hauling projects in Slippery Rock, PA

To throw out stained, broken, or infested mattresses or couches, call a junk hauler or take it to your local landfill yourself. If it’s infested with pests, you might want to call a pest control specialist near you. If you have infested furniture, there's a good chance you have an infested home, too.

Tipping furniture removal services is not mandatory, but it is a thoughtful way to acknowledge their hard work and professionalism. If you're pleased with the service, consider tipping junk haulers 5% to 10% of the total cost or $10 to $20 per worker. This is especially appreciated when the job involves heavy lifting, navigating stairs, or handling bulky items. Tipping not only rewards the workers for a job well done but also fosters a positive working relationship.

If your furniture is in good condition, you have a few options:

  • Donate to charities: Organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and GreenDrop often accept furniture donations and may offer free pickup services.

  • List online: You can list your items for free on local online marketplaces or community groups to find someone who needs them. Giving away your furniture not only helps you clear space but also benefits others in your community.

The cost to haul away junk depends on the haul’s size. A single item costs $60 to $150 to haul, with each additional item adding $20 to $40 to the total price. Hauling away a full truckload of trash or other junk will run $400 to $800.

Yes, some furniture retailers will haul away your old furniture when they deliver your new items. This service may be included in your purchase price or offered at a discounted rate. It's important to check with the store to see if they provide furniture removal and whether there are any requirements, such as a minimum purchase. Utilizing this service can save you time and effort in disposing of your old furniture.

In many cases, you can dispose of furniture in a dumpster, but regulations vary by location. Some areas prohibit items like mattresses or upholstered furniture due to environmental concerns. It's best to check with your local waste management authorities or dumpster rental company to understand what's allowed.
