Small jobs welcome

"I hired a plumber through HomeAdvisor using prepay but I would not recommend this service. The contractor left a leaky pipe that caused water coming up through carpet. I had to purchase a wet vacuum to dry out the carpet. I had to contact HomeAdvisor again and hired Dave the Plumber, LLC who had to redo the installation done previously. Dave the Plumber replaced all the piping and outside spigot because of a water leak the previous contractor left. Thank you Dave the Plumber for being a professional and a job well done."

"Excellent service by MarKool. First it is a small company so when you call them you talk directly to the person doing the work. Second they are highly responsive. Third at the home they are very personable and answer all questions in detail. Fourth In fixing my problem they showed they are highly skilled and experienced in HVAC in this case as it pertains to gas furnace operation."

"Needed sewage pump replaced and line opened up. Called several others (Barr, A+,Fremyer, Comstock, Tri County) . None knew or cared what to do. I was told various things, call someone else or just ghosted. Powells took the bull by the horns. They tracked down the manufacturer of my old school system here in The Woods and with some detective work diagnosed and replaced pump without digging it all up. Two prior companies had said it needed to be dug up. If you have a REAL problem, call a REAL plumber!"

"The pipe connected to the shower head in the master bath corroded which created a leak, and then broke off. As a result, we contacted 24/7 plumbing to see what would be needed to fix the issue. Their plumber came out to the house and stated that the pipe looked like it was galvanized, and if so could not be fixed. He then stated in order to find our for sure he needed to go through the wall directly behind the shower and also go through the wall on the side of the shower to make sure he could see the pipe. We then asked him who would be able to repair the wall and he stated that their plumbers are advised "to destroy what is necessary to fix the problem" and that they would not fix the walls after going through the dry wall. We then asked the plumber, but what if it's galvanized as you stated before? He sated that they would not be able to fix it again. We decided not to let him knock down 2 walls to access the pipe knowing that if it was galvanized he could not fix it. We would then be left with damaged walls to fix and still no use of the shower. We got a second opinion from Putnam Plumbing and they came out the next day. The plumber Patrick reached into the wall where the pipe was corroded with long pliers, took out the old thread that broke off and then reconnected the pipe which is galvanized to the shower head fixing the shower. He then advised us about the acidity of the water which would have caused the corrosion and options for how to take care of it in the future. The whole visit took 15 minutes. Lesson learned. Never using 24/7 ever again and always turning to Putman for any plumbing related issues."

"It went very well, from the initial contact to scheduling the final work. They were very professional, courteous, prompt and overall very pleasant to work with. However, one complaint would be the cost. Although I did accept the estimate of $325 as a reasonable charge, in retrospect, I thought it was a little high for about a 30-minute job of disconnecting electric pump and water source. I did not get other estimates so I have no other cost comparisons. They have high reviews so I assume it is a fair charge. I would use this provider again."

"I had an excellent experience with Tri-County Pump Service. They quickly and accurately diagnosed an issue with my sewer grinder pump and provided a clear, well-reasoned recommendation for replacement?no guesswork, no upselling. What really stood out was their willingness to go beyond the immediate issue. They took the time to walk through my situation and budget when discussing my water heater, offering practical, honest guidance instead of pushing the most expensive option. The technicians were friendly, on time, and clearly knew their stuff. They explained everything as they went, answered questions without hesitation, and left the area cleaner than they found it. Fair pricing, solid work, and a level of professionalism that?s getting harder to find. Highly recommend."

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Smithsburg, MD

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
