"Surface Installations is fantastic! They were easy to schedule (they do smaller repair jobs in the morning, before full day jobs) and were quick at the repair. You can't even see where they seamed in the new carpet! They were very nice and trustworthy. I would absolutely recommend them and use them again. <br />"

"Purchased a house (10 years old) in Draper that had carpet my wife described as "hideous". Shopped around with two other service providers, and settled on Kay Riley and Sons. My wife had had previous experience with them, and they also had good ratings from Angies List, so I was pleased. In total, replaced 176 sq yards of carpet, with new pad also. Carpet quality is excellant. Price was very good, also. Carpet layers did a great job, even did some repairs for us on the squeaky stairs. Overall, a great experience! Great people to do business with. <br />"

""Meet Joe Black!" We recently purchased a home that was not well cared for by the previous owners. There were substantial stains on the carpeting in the basement, including paints. Joe was able to remove the stains, including most of the paint, without compromising the integrity of the carpet fibers or backing. The carpets look great, and we are very pleased. I recommend Best Bet Carpet Systems, and will be hiring Joe Black again. We purchased a coupon through Angie's List, $99.00 for 500 sq ft of carpeting cleaning. With the additional square footage and application of "Scotch Guard" protection, it was only an additional $143.00."

"He was excellent at suggesting to us the color and texture we needed.  He was quick to agree that the excess could be used to do a second exterior job.  Installation went well.  After nearly 2 years the carpet has worn well, there are minor color changes in one section perhaps related to snow or glue.  There is no loosening of carpet nor edges coming up. <br />"

"We went here because we were finishing a room in our basement and they had cheap remnants that included install. The employee they sent to install the carpet was on time and did a good job. The thing I didn't like was that he told me the store had forgotten to include a charge for one thing and he needed me to write out a check for it. So I wrote out an extra check. I would have liked to have known that I could be charged extra over what I had paid. A few months later the carpet wrinkled up. Ogden's Carpet had guaranteed the install on it, so they came back and stretched the carpet again. Overall they were a good company to work with, they just get a B on price for the employee charging me more."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in South Jordan, UT

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
