"Steve responded very quickly and I got my yard done in just a few days after I contacted him. I had several oddly shaped areas in my lawn (including two on an awkward slope) which he handled without complaint. He carefully navigated around my small plants without damage and told me he was ok if "micromanaged him" so that it was done the way I wanted. I appreciated that."

"I've used Todd's services for a few years for maintenance of my irrigation system. He's always been responsive to needed system blow-outs and start-up repair of a valve box wiring. I noticed he also does landscaping work. So, I hired him to do level/grade and re-sod my backyard due to my dogs destroying it with holes and ruts. The yard looks great. My only gripe is leaving some skid steer depressions in the front yard, that he warned me about, but I didn't expect it would have been that noticeable. Perhaps the ground was softer than expected. It's fine, though, as I'm sure the ground will recover after some time. A couple small spots were missed in the yard, but not a big deal, as I can handle the patching with the extra sod he left! I would definitely hire again for my next project."

"Brita arrived promptly at scheduled time. She was knowledgeable about what I needed done. Cleanup was done as work progressed. In four hours, total cleanup was accomplished, as I'd hoped. Brita knows her plants (and weeds!) There's a huge pile of brush and weeds out of sight, which demonstrates her diligence. <br /> After her work was complete, she asked if I had any upcoming projects. I showed her a couple spots, and she took photos to show Sarah, so that when/if I called with a new design task, we'd have a starting conversation point. <br /> I was left with a very good impression. <br /> Invoice total was as expected. It's worth a bit more $$$ to pay someone who doesn't need a lot of supervision. <br />"

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in South Haven, MN

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
