"Fantastic! Alex was incredibly responsive throughout the preparation and installation process. I'm building an unconventional house, an Earthship, and it was an interesting challenge to bring together the original roof construction design, required updates, and the rubber roof requirements. Alex is always upbeat, patient and a pleasure to work with. Thank you!!"

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"I cannot speak highly enough of Tom and Brad Green of Colonial Restorations. We have lived in our antique house for 16 years now, and like most old homes, some of its previous repairs were good, some not so good. Tom Green worked on this house for its previous owners, and his work was, by far, the best in the house. So, we continued to use Colonial - Tom, then Tom and Brad - as we learned the ropes about caring for an old house - our first house, old or new. Over the years, they have replaced sills and posts and beams, and rebuilt parts of our loose stone foundation. Most recently, they replaced the last original posts in our basement, (one of which was a tree trunk still with bark on it), including pouring new custom footings, in advance of our finally cementing the dirt floor. The work here is never easy - nothing is level, nothing is square - but the Greens' end result has always been beautiful - strong and made to last. Their prices are fair and without hidden costs....maybe not the lowest bid you might get, but you know it's a real bid that they will stand behind. They triage projects for us, giving us an idea of what other items will likely need attention in the next few years. We're not done with this house yet....we've never won the lottery, and there's always another repair..... and plan to use them again soon. I feel confident knowing that the next owners of this house, whoever they might be, will see the quality of the work and know that we cared enough to have the right people help us with the ongoing repair and maintenance of a 275+ year old house. I am a real person, a real customer, with no ties to the company, and was more than happy to write this review."

"From the day I first inquired about replacing the roof on my house until the day the job was completed all contact was prompt, professional, informative, and courteous. The crew that replaced our roof was very efficient, friendly, and worked extremely well as a team to get the job done. Our roof was replaced in less than 48 hours and the grounds were left clean and free of debris. I was hesitant at first to hire a team off the internet, but the professionalism displayed during all stages of the job was enough to convince me that this company is deserving of the glowing reviews it receives. "It went great! After being postponed for a while due to continuous rain, they were ready to start as soon as the skies cleared up. They estimated it would take 3 days to complete the job (new shingles, new ice and water shield, roof vents, chimney flashing and re-pointing, and new seamless gutters), it only took 2 days. Jack was very professional and helpful, as was the rest of his crew. We communicated frequently on the phone while waiting for the rain to clear up to start the job, keeping us posted on the status of other jobs. He was able to schedule our roof relatively immediately after the initial request and consultation (if it just wasn't for the rain!). His crew was prompt and had all the supplies necessary to start the roof. It didn't take nearly as long as I had anticipated, working roughly from 7:30am (I requested they start as early as they were able to in the morning) to 4:00pm both days. After each day they did a thorough job cleaning up roof debris, laying down tarps on the lawn, bushes and deck prior to beginning work to catch the falling debris, and they had a large magnet to pick up nails from the yard and driveway (no flat tires!). When ripping up the old shingles, they discovered around our chimney that the boards were rotting from water, they were able to quickly replace the plywood without problem and assured us that there didn't appear to be any further water damage than that.

So, now that the roof is complete, it looks beautiful! The craftsmanship and color of the shingles looks great and we are very excited about it. The chimney also is in better condition with the re-pointing and new flashing around the base. Our new gutters will be attached on Saturday (a week ahead of anticipation too), and Jack highly recommended the person who will be doing this job.

Jack and Affordable Roofing guarantees their craftsmanship for 10 years, and the shingles for at least 15 years. I am very pleased with the work provided and the knowledge that Jack has been doing this for almost 30 years. I most certainly will contact Affordable Roofing in the future for any other renovation I might need on my house (they do more than just roofs!)"

FAQs for metal roofing installation and replacement projects in South Hero, VT

Copper roofs can last 100 years or more, so you’re likely never to need another replacement. Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and occasional cleaning, keeps them in top shape. Work with a licensed roofer for any repairs or inspections to be sure the roof stays watertight and performs as expected.

Cleaning a copper roof averages $460, sealing costs an average of $3 per square foot, and broader repairs cost an average of $6,500.While those figures may seem steep compared to simple maintenance, they’re still far less than the cost of a complete replacement. Staying on top of annual cleanings and quick fixes helps keep costs down and allows the roof to reach its 100-year lifespan.

That green hue is a natural patina that forms as copper reacts with air and moisture. In coastal areas, it can appear in five to seven years; in dry regions, it may take up to 14. The patina shields the copper, so letting it develop is perfectly fine. If you prefer the shiny look, you can have a pro apply a clear sealant and recoat it as needed.

You can paint a copper roof, but it will block the natural patina and may shorten the roof’s lifespan. Once paint goes on, future upkeep becomes more involved—you’ll need to scrape and repaint every few years. Most homeowners skip painting and opt for cleaning or a clear sealant to keep the copper looking its best.

Copper holds up well in nearly every climate. In a humid region, it naturally resists fungus, moss, and algae. In snowy or windy areas, it sheds precipitation and stays firmly in place, as long as it’s installed with room to expand and contract. That flexibility helps the roof stay leak-free through temperature swings and harsh weather year after year.
