"We have an in-ground pool and deck. We wanted a concrete patio next to the existing deck on which we will build a gazebo. It hard to find someone to do a smaller job quickly. We wanted to enjoy the gazebo before summer was over. Tavis worked my job in between his other jobs. The patio was finished quickly and looks great."

"Lucia came by to give a estimate. She was very professional and presented me with all the company documents and what to expect. Greystone called when they were coming as agreed to. Crew was there on time. They were very competent and professional. It always helps to have someone supervising the job so no mistakes are made and all goes according to plan. As the project progresses there may have to be some modification to the design like making sure the curves are good and lines are straight where you want them. No problem with that at all. When job was done they cleaned up everything and power washed the all the dust away all the way to the street. I am willing to pay a little more for a project if things go as smoothly as this one did.
Thank you Greystone for a beautiful walk that my guests and I can enjoy for many years to come.
"

"Everything turned out well. They arrived promptly, cleaned up after themselves, and were highly skilled. We really appreciated that they explained what they process entailed and how they would go about correcting the basement's drainage problems. Ultimately, it was a pleasure working with them, and we would definitely recommend their services."

"
The firm's president, Randy Alverson, arrived promptly, assessed our damp basement situation, and explained in great detail the various steps of the waterproofing process. He answered all of my questions and was so professional and reassuring that I broke my usual rule of getting at least 3 proposals for any home project, and decided to hire Chamberlin-Washington immediately. Of course, I had done my homework and read the firm's excellent reviews on numerous websites including Angle's List, which added to my confidence in my choice.

The Chamberlin-Washington crew was terrific and worked so hard under very chilly and damp conditions. They first removed all of the plants/shrubs from our front borders, carefully wrapping the roots in order to preserve them. An 8 + -foot trench then had to be dug along the front of our house, to the bottom of the foundation, in order to begin the waterproofing process. They worked very carefully, addressing one half of the foundation at a time (including under our front porch, which was undisturbed). The crew realized that our home's exterior foundation was very rough and uneven, which meant that it wouldn't be a receptive surface for the waterproofing membrane. Mr. Alverson came back to our house to explain the additional steps that were needed to smooth the foundation out before the waterproof membrane could be applied: grind down the rough foundation, install stainless steel wall ties, install wood forms and pour a 4" thick concrete layer to even up and consolidate the foundation. He made sure that we understood what was going to happen, and explained that though this was an unusual step to have to take, they had done it before for with some older homes such as ours (built circa 1925). This extra step of preparation added an additional 50% to the original fee, but it had to be done. Once the waterproofing layer was finally in place, they tested it by spraying water onto the foundation for an hour, with one person carefully monitoring the process inside our basement to make sure that no water was leaking through.

Ultimately, Chamberlin-Washington was able to thoroughly waterproof the front foundation of our home, and we have had no further water problems whatsoever. We were extremely impressed with Mr. Alverson and his crew -- very professional, punctual and thorough. I highly recommend this firm to anyone whose home needs similar waterproofing work. I should also add that Chamberlin-Washington honored the 10% discount for Angie's List members -- a nice touch.

"

".Mr. George would call me at 7 am to communicate with me that he was coming or it was raining. It took much longer than anticipated to complete the job. The crew was here working long hours, weekends, and if Mr. George was not on the site, the work slowed to a screeching halt. The brick work looked nice, the driveway did not. It had lines and squared out areas on it. Mr. George promised me a bump before the driveway entered the garage and he never did it. I made it clear that I had to pay for EVERYTHING now. I paid him to come back and tar base seal coat. He called me at least 10 times and pounded on my door at least 4 times to seal coat the driveway that Thursday. I told him NO, it was not a good day, he insisted on coming that evening. He handed me a bill that day and said I never paid him. I gave him a 500 dollar bonus. I spoke with Mr. George and he said there was nothing he could do to help me. If you hire him, just have him do ONE thing for you. pay him. and then hire him for something else if you want him to do more work. The "I can do this for you, and I can do that for you, just muddies up the charges, the billing, and the dispute about money.
"

"I saw a sign in a driveway of a colleague and my wife and I were very impressed with the work. I called back in June of 2015 and worked with Michael from Worden and Sons Paving and he gave me the quote, however we made a decision to not go with it due to a financial emergency that did not allow us to invest in the work. March of 2016 I was looking through e-mails and found the quote and when I called about if they would honor the quote from 9 months earlier he said absolutely!! Not only did he honor the quote he scheduled and within 2 weeks of inquiring we had our BEAUTIFUL new DRIVEWAY in place. What I love the most is this is a family business and Michael was very proud of the fact that the people who are working with him worked with his grandfather. Loyalty, Responsiveness, Quality and Efficient Work. I feel we received the full value from the work provided.
"

FAQs for concrete flatwork repair & resurface projects in South Hill, VA

When evaluating whether patching can address your concrete blemishes, it’s important to assess the extent of the damage. Minor issues such as small cracks or chipped areas may be effectively repaired with patching techniques that restore the surface’s appearance. However, if you notice widespread deterioration, significant cracks, or structural weakening, resurfacing is recommended as a more durable, long‑term solution. A thorough evaluation by a concrete specialist can help determine the best course of action for restoring your concrete to its optimal condition.

The optimal time to resurface your concrete driveway is late spring. This period benefits from warm temperatures and softened ground conditions following winter’s freeze‑thaw cycles, ensuring that the new overlay bonds securely and matures to a durable finish. Resurfacing at this time also enhances your property's safety and curb appeal. Engage a concrete professional to schedule your project during this ideal season.
