"Stetson just repaired the damage to our exterior stone wall where rainwater damage had caused a dozen stones to break away. I think that section actually looks better now than it did originally! And the remortared section is indistinquishable from the rest of the wall. I was able to buy the replacement stone at a supply store called Mutual Materials. Stetson is a perfectionist. Our house is very well-built, but it did not conform to current code, and he was able to modify the repair to create a small (<2 inch) gap between the bottom of the stone wall and the concrete driveway, so the liklihood of future water damage (that had been caused by "wicking" of rainwater behind the wall) is now greatly diminished."

"DeHaven Masonry excels at Customer Service and "yes," you will get a timely call-back. Shaun, the owner, took 30 minutes on-site (first) to assess this fireplace remodel project. Other leading Vendors in the area didn't seem interested in taking on this smaller size/scale of project. I'm pretty sure DeHaven wins as a result. The price and quality of work capped off a very positive experience. I''ll be ready to recommend DeHaven Masonry if ever asked."

Small jobs welcome

"Our project with Curt was Tuck Pointing for Arch columns in front of the house. There were endless of open gaps between two stone veneer mortar joints where need to tuck sufficient mortar material to bond the stone together. Very time consuming for the job. Curt has power of enduring and withstand the long process of the project. And he was fun and friendly and gave his attention to what I asked him to do. Easy to work with him. The job were completed nicely and made the columns looking right to ensure no further damages by snowy winter, water moisture or group of wasps nest inside the gaps. We are very happy with the results that the problem had been solved with reasonable price. Heartfelt Thanks to Curt for providing Tuck Point service for our columns issue that was actually rejected by other Masonry Pro. Highly recommend ! (Review by Mrs. Lo)"

"I needed to have my front steps which were aggregate stone resealed. I had contacted one company which shall remain anonymous, came out to give me a bid but then they never gave me the bid despite numerous phone calls, texts, & emails. I needed to have my steps resealed before being able to have my step railing replaced. I called Miles Masonry and they responded immediately,. Milestone Masonry was able to give me an instant quote just by looking at a photo of my steps. They were very friendly, professional and the price was reasonable. Their customer service is par excellence! After they resealed my steps, there were huge blotches of different colors. They came right away when I contacted Mike, the owner. Turned out for reasons unknown parts of the stone just did not absorb the sealant. They came out three times, acid washed my steps and applied a few more coats which made improvements in the look. There are still a few small spots that need to have more applications but due to rain they could not come back. Mike gave me the sealant and explained how to apply the sealant on the few small spots when the steps dried out. I have yet to apply the sealant because of rain and now snow. Even though there are a few mismatches in color it is not their fault. For the time being, I have stair treads on the steps so they are not visible. I will hire them again to apply sealant to an area in our back yard come spring time."

"First off, Mike was ON TIME!!! My wife even called me and said, "your not gonna believe this but for the first time a contractor was actually on time!" and it just got better from there.
Mike was very courteous, polite and a good worker. His repair work on the drywall was great, especially given the amount of time he had.
The two Ceiling fans he replaced work great and we couldn't be happier.
I asked mike for a stack of business cards so I can give them to friends at work who might need handyman / contractor services.
I highly recommend without reservation.

FAQs for brick or stone tuck pointing projects in Spokane, WA

Masons charge between $70 and $110 per hour. A mason may have a minimum service fee ranging from $80 to $300. Most bricklayers offer free estimates and charge only if you proceed with the project. This clear pricing model assures that professionals inspect your property before beginning work and charge based on your project’s actual requirements.

A professional repointing lasts 20 to 30 years without maintenance and extends up to 50 years when maintained diligently. This process protects your brickwork using high-quality materials that ensure lasting performance and durability. Consistent upkeep preserves its strength and appearance, providing enduring protection and enhancing your home’s overall structural integrity for decades.

You know your house needs repointing when you notice clear signs such as cracked, flaking, or missing mortar and visible discoloration on the brick surfaces. Additional indicators include loose bricks, water damage, and gaps between the brick joints that compromise the overall integrity of the structure. Addressing these issues promptly protects your investment and sustains the durability and curb appeal of your home.

A house needs repointing to preserve both its structural integrity and visual appeal. Mortar acts as a vital bonding agent that holds the bricks securely together. When the mortar deteriorates, it exposes the structure to water infiltration and further decay, increasing the risk of costly repairs. Repointing stops decay and reinforces the exterior, ensuring long-term protection.
