"Response to our inquiry was quick. Price was fair and was under the amount of the estimate given to us. The work was excellent. Our table looks brand new and the refinished top matches our chairs. We would highly recommend JM Wood Restoration!!"

"Our initial search on Angie's List for granite countertop contractors led us to Andy and his company, Trusted Improvement. While we did interview another vendor, we were impressed with Andy's overall knowledge of granite fabrication and installation. He was able to answer all of our questions and after reading the very impressive reviews of his previous customers, we felt confident he would provide us with a very satisfactory result. He surpassed our expectations. <br /> <br />Andy and his crew were able to work within our tight time constraints which we appreciated. Radu took perfect measurements and helped us select the perfect granite for our kitchen and bathrooms. His pride in workmanship was clearly evident on the day of installation. <br /> <br />Andy has assembled a staff of craftsman who excel at what they do and it is evident that they enjoy working together. We couldn't be happier with our experience with Andy and Trusted Improvement. We would not hesitate to call on him again. <br /> <br />"

"The remodel went wonderfully.  Jim and Jonathan were on time, easy to have in the house.  Their daily clean up and work ethic was great.  I have used Halm and Perkins on two other projects and continue to be very pleased with the results."

"Jesse at Zischke Builders was great to work with. When we initially approached him about remodeling our kitchen, we had a much larger project in mind (new cabinets, sink, coutertops, the whole 9 yards). In the planning stage he was excellent to work with and his prices for custom cabinetry were competitive with other firms estimates for prefab cabinets. In the end, we decided to scale back our ambitious remodel and Jesse worked with us to put together a great project that was significantly smaller than what he had originally signed on for. He was also great about accommodating our desire to do some of the demolition ourselves. When it came to taking out the load bearing wall, Jesse was sensitive to our wish to preserve the cove moldings on one side of the wall and accommodated that in his plans. He also managed a small miracle when we discovered that the flooring in our house was discontinued. He initially did his best to patch the holes from the wall demolition with only the couple of boxes of material we had on hand. When that didn't work and we decided to tear up the foyer for material, he managed to build a tiled foyer into the budget without breaking the bank. When we had issues with the work of one of the subcontractors, Jesse took responsibility for getting the problems fixed and brought someone in at no additional expense and got the job done right. Our project was finished on time and within budget, despite the hiccups. I would not hesitate to recommend Zischke Builders or hire them again myself. <br />"

"Randy assessed the damage.  We needed water and mold experts. We had to have flood cuts in all of the drywall in order to see if there was any other water damage that we didn't know about. We had to have our carpet ripped out, all of the ceiling drywall taken out, and the mold that had started to form had to either be replaced or cleaned. We had the old style siding on our house and since they don't make that kind anymore, we got new siding, and new shingles on both the house roof and pole barn.  Randy did an amazing job. We have a pool, and the fence that got blown away around it, Randy got it replaced immediately, due to safety and liability reasons. We had to have code up grades for electrical outlets, switches, and smoke alarms.  Randy did all of the necessary steps it took to get us back in our home.  All I can say is that, we are very thankful that Randy was the contractor for us.  He worked diligently and tirelessly with our Insurance adjuster to get us back in our home.  Its better than ever!"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Spring Arbor, MI

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
