"He did a great job and we would hire him again when needed. He came out once to give an estimate then came out another time to do the job. He was clean and professional. We have ALWAYS been pleased with the work he does. We were also happy to support a local small business. :)"

"It has been a year since the installation, so some memories are uncertain. For instance, I can't recall the date of the job, or the cost. My wife and I recalled this job after I reviewed the work of another contractor who recently refinished our living room floor. <br /> Several details remain fixed in our mind. The Top Shop is a small, family owned business. They sell, fabricate and install various types of counter tops. They work hard to provide a good product at a competitive price. They were helpful and patient in answering our many questions regarding the various types of material that are available. <br /> If we had worked solely with the Top Shop, I believe we would have given them an A rating. However, when we were referred to Stone Specialists in Burton, and then on to the warehouse that supplied Stone Specialists, things became complicated. My wife had a very clear and specific idea of the type of granite she wanted - one that would compliment our new hardwood floor, and our natural hickory kitchen cabinets. We found what we were looking floor at the warehouse in the Detroit area. <br /> The three companies simply did not talk to one another. The Detroit granite warehouse told us that they made weekly deliveries to Stone Specialists. We expected that in the next 2-3 weeks that we would learn when our counter tops would be ready for installation.  But it was well over a month and still we had heard nothing. <br /> We made calls to the Top Shop and Stone Specialists. That got the ball rolling. Within a month the counter tops were installed. <br /> That was too long. If we needed to contact the Top Shop or Stone Specialists after we had selected the granite, no one told us to do so. No one explained the process. None of the three companies communicated with the others. If we had not acted we may have never had our counter tops installed. <br /> We took the time and made the effort to talk in person to the Top Shop and Stone Specialists staff. My only message was that they needed to communicate better with one another. And explaining what had happened to us, I told them that they all needed to communicate better with one another and with us, their customers. <br /> Rather than hearing that message, they rather blamed "the other guy" for the problems, this was especially true of Stone Specialists. I don't know if they heeded our advice or not. I hope they did and started to address the issues we raised. If not, customers may be forced to deal with the problem we encountered. <br /> We now enjoy beautiful granite counter tops that compliment our hardwood floor and our natural hickory cabinets.  But do the a complete lack of communication between these three companies we endured a long and frustrating wait to enjoy our purchase. <br /> <br />"

"This company was so professional, friendly, punctual.  They did a beautiful job and even helped us make decisions.  They were in and out in a day just as they said they would be.  We are so happy with our granite counter tops.  They were true to their word and there were no hidden fees.  We would use them again in a heartbeat."

"Went far from what we expected. I contacted the company by phone indicating that we had noticed a hairline crack in our countertop granite, that the backsplash needed a re-caulk and that we believed that the countertop was due to a re-seal, and that we expected the technicians to check for other defects, etc. I got an estimate over the phone and agreed to it, and was told by Michelle that two technicians would come on Wednesday to fix the hairline crack and re-caulk the backsplash, and that they would do the resealing on Thursday. However, they missed the appointment on Wednesday and came instead on Thursday (with the appropriate apologies). They didn't have much time, hence they fixed the crack and several other indents, covered three seams, and indicated that two technicians would come back on Friday to finish the work. Only one came back on Friday and stayed until past 6 pm, re-sealing the countertop and re-caulking the backsplash. On Saturday, we noticed a second hairline crack less than an inch from the one fixed - how could they have missed it? We also found multiple splashes of sealer on the wooden floor; some came out after extensive scrubbing, others are still there and refuse to come out. Also, we noticed that the beautiful shine of the granite was completely gone. We waited till Sunday, when we started to buff the surface to recover the shine. Almost impossible - contrary to what every web site says, whatever was applied to the countertop refuses to come out with commercial granite polishing products. I contacted the company, and was told "Sealing granite does deepen the color. That's a characteristic of natural stone...It's not practice for us to use floor covering when sealing and this is the first negative feedback that we've had for this process. I apologize for any marks that were left." Deeper color is to me very different from a dull color, complete lack of shine in a surface that was like a mirror - moreover, we were never told what would happen after the sealing was done. We called the experts to have an expert work done. The seams and backsplash are properly sealed, the crack allegedly was fixed, but what expert misses another crack adjacent to the one fixed? The re-sealing results are far from what we expected. At no point were we informed of the options or follow-up alternatives. We are stuck now with a countertop of uneven dullness throughout with streaks where the sealer was applied unevenly (and which we expected that a good buff would even out). Very unhappy with the results - I could have done the sealing myself for a fifth of the cost and with a product that would look much better."

"The company had the flooring that I wanted in stock. They provided samples, pictures, and a lot of useful info to help me decide on the flooring and to help in talking to installers about how to best install and finish the flooring, though they did not refer me to any local installers. Once we decided on an installer and were ready to go, we had a fairly tight timeline, which we made clear. The purchase process was easy, but unfortunately our flooring was not picked up at the warehouse on schedule for two days running, and no one notified us -- I had to call the company and get my contact to look into what was happening with our order. They provided a couple of options, and fortunately my installer was able to pick up the flooring at a local terminal, instead of us loosing several days of acclimation time over a long holiday weekend when no deliveries would be made. A lot of calls and emails were exchanged, but they did stay on top of things this time and made sure we got our flooring. The flooring was beautiful, excellent quality and very dry so that the needed acclimation time was minimized. Our installer was very happy with the quality also and the floors look amazing. While the material was not inexpensive by any means, we feel that is was really worth the investment in our home, and would be surprised if anyone else would have supplied as high a quality product for a lower price. Moreover, though it did take some time on my part, basically acting as a GC, finding and hiring an installer, materials, and making sure the material got to us, based on an initial quote we got, we believe we saved at least 25% of the total project over contracting with a local installer to handle everything."

"They were responsive and prompt, on the site the morning after the storm with clean up restoration beginning the following day. They did most of the work but provided general contracting services and sub-contractor oversight for the electrical, plumbing, etc. They were efficient, kept us informed of decisions that we would need to make in the near future, recommended reliable sources for flooring and other materials and kept the project on schedule. They required sub-contractors to come back if the quality of the work was not exactly as it should have been. The job was completed within the time indicated, within budget and the craftmanship was excellent."

"They responded immediately. They supplied countertops, but it took them a long time to finish the work. We had an issue with the dishwasher staying in. They came right out to fix it. We anticipated close to a month for the stone to get cut and so forth, but got it within ten days. The price was only a quarter of what we had anticipated. We got more things done as a result. The workmanship was perfect. We had a little bit of an issue with the follow-up, but they were right out here again to fix it."

"I have used several Granite Gold products and like their effectiveness because they do what they are supposed to do. No strong fumes or irritating skin problems. The granite counter top daily cleaner and polish are so easy to use (spay it on and wipe with a paper towel) to keep all your stone products clean and shiny. I was surprised to see how effective the grout cleaner is. I sprayed it on some dirty tire floors in the bathroom and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then I went over it with the scrub brush they provide. It looked clean then, but when it dried, it was much brighter. This is a 40 Year old bathroom tile floor pictured. Granite Gold also provides excellent professional support."
