"I hired Artâ s carpentry for installation of updated wrought iron balusters from my old wood spindles. Art responded quickly with a quote and all of my subsequent questions and needs. He provided quality balusters as i described from sending pictures and quickly added me to his teamâ s work schedule. The work was done within 2 weeks from me reaching out. Artâ s offers a great service and follows up to make sure everything meets your expectations. I saved his website and will be reaching out for future trim and carpentry projects. Thank you!"

"I had a great experience with Rekuta construction. Robert installed window trim, crown molding, and a stair rail for us. It turned out beautiful. He communicated with us regularly from estimate to job completion. He looked at what we were interested in and was able to reproduce it and checked with us throughout the process to make sure we were happy with the results. He took great care in respecting our house during the process and when he wrapped up each day he took time to clean up so we had no inconvenience during the process. We would definitely work with Rekuta construction again."

"Built to Last Construction was recommended to my husband and me by his brother. They remodeled my bother-in law's kitchen and built him a beautiful deck, which is featured on their website at https://www.b2lconstruction.com. We hired them to remodel our kitchen. It turned out beautiful. Tom even built pull out drawers for my cupboard panty and added a heat vent along the floor. The extra time and detail they took to get it just right was amazing. I recommended them to a friend who is keeping them busy with projects at her home. My friend recommended them to someone else who has had a hard time finding someone to update her deck. She will not be disappointed."

"My experience with Jam was nothing but great. Jeff, Will, Shane and Kevin were the best. They were very friendly and personable and did a beautiful job on white walls and dark green trim including bookcases and shutters. I will certainly have them again if needed. The cost was also reasonable. Thank you, Jeff!"

"This was our 2nd project with Craig after having our basement refinished. Our new crown moldings have lightening above that reflects onto the ceiling. It makes the rooms look more elegant. The kitchen had ugly multi colored back splash we inherited when we purchased the house. Now, the marble back splash reflects the quality of our home in general. All craftmenship work was done at a fair price and until we were fully satisfied.Craig's workers are the best from professionalism, skill to timeliness from start to finish. We are now finalizing plans on a screened porch with a stamped concrete floor that will blend in with the home and look like it's always been there. I have complete confidence in knowing they finish our jobs completely before moving on to another one."

"It was the best experience. I needed new windows, wall repairs, molding and trim and all that involves. Lee explained everything he was going to do so that I understood and more than followed through in every aspect. Arrived on time and left my room spotless. I was apprehensive but it turned out to be an enjoyable experience. I highly recommend his company for any project someone may need his help completing and I plan on using him again."

FAQs for interior trim and decorative moldings installation projects in Sterling Heights, MI

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
