"I called Scott on Tuesday and he came over the same day to give me an estimate. I told him there was going to be an open house on Sunday, and asked if there was any way he could complete the job by then. He said he'd try....and called me the next day (Wednesday) and was going over to work on it. He stayed until 6:00PM to complete the job....and did a great job. He not only replaced the section of pavement, but edged the entire sidewalk and cleaned everything up before he left. He ran into layers of asphalt and concrete and the job was a little more involved than he first thought....but he honored his estimate. I was very pleased Scott's work and professionalism and will recommend him to my family and friends."

"Estimate for the job was very reasonable so I had some concern that the asphalt layer would be thin. Not only was it not thin but the edges were perfectly aligned to my walkways and carefully butted to garage floor. The paving was rolled several times with a paving roller and the edges beveled to ground level. They started when they said they would (on a Saturday so they would not be interrupted by other calls) and finished promptly. Cleaned up completely, nothing, not even a cigarette butt left behind."

"<p>Earth Road Inc. is a great paving company! Excellent quality work, affordably priced and responsive. All crew members were polite and professional and all cared about the quality of the entire job as well as my wishes. Everyone went out of their way to answer any questions I had and to explain what they were doing and why.</p> <p> Work proceeded without a hitch and each day the crews arrived on time and ready to work. The paving crew leader with 16 years experience had great attention to detail and made sure every stage was finished as if it was his own driveway. Each crew member was experienced and each efficiently performed their tasks without needing to be told. A really nice bunch of hard working guys. I can't say enough about the quality and experience that I had with Earth Road Inc. They were fantastic!!!</p> <br />"

"I was  impressed at the very  beginning when Richard Wirth promptly met with me to give me an estimate.  When he and his crew came to my house a few days later to lay the asphalt -  they did a fine job.  They were  courteous,  knowledgeable, and careful.    The new asphalt on the driveway is smooth and even - looks so good.   The edges are impressive - are sharp and  look very sturdy.  They resized my downspout to fit  on top of the new asphalt and took away a large rock that they dug up from the old driveway.  The men knew what they were doing and I am very pleased with their work.  <br />"

"I received a flyer in my mailbox from Armourseal. I had noticed a couple of neighbors had used them to seal their driveways in the past. I gave them a call and asked for an estimate. The person I spoke with (I think his name was Mark) answered my many questions about the steps they take and the materials they use. He stopped by a day or two later and left an estimate in my mailbox. The price was about the same as another one I had received from a different company, who left a flyer and estimate in my mailbox a few weeks earlier. I figured this was about the going rate, so I gave Armourseal a try. <br /> They initially told me they would be back in my area in about 2 weeks and that it was weather (rain) dependent. I mentioned that we were going to have a graduation party around that time and they told they they would try to work me in sooner. A couple of days later, they called and said they would be able to do it the next day. <br /> On the slated morning, a saw a truck parked out front of my house. It was the crew leader and he was monitoring the weather radar. He said they would be able to do the job this morning as the rain was steering away from the immediate area. The crew arrived shortly thereafter and did all of the preparation steps and sealed the driveway. I'm not sure how long it took (perhaps 1 hour), but they were quite efficient and did a neat job. There was no sealer splatter on the garage, sidewalk, grass, or in the road in front of the house. <br /> Please note there is a low level of coal tar type smell from the sealer. It wasn't bad at all and it was gone in a couple of days after it dried. <br /> The people were nice to work with and communicated well with me. Everything went as planned. I think they did a very good sealing job and the price was fair. <br /> It's been about 5 months since they did the job and the appearance of the sealer is holding up well. <br /> About 3 years ago I sealed the driveway myself with premium Latexite sealer from a home improvement store. It cost me about $100 for the sealer, plus the broom/squeegee. It was hard, physical work, but the sealer was rated for 10 years, so I figured it was worth it. Unfortunately, the sealer color faded within the first summer from black to a charcoal gray color. It also wore thin so I could see the original pavement after 3 years. After having Armourseal do the job this summer, I will leave it to them in the future as they did a nice job (potentially with better materials) and it saved my back! <br />"

"The company offered to seal my driveway for free due to a miscommunication about the original job. After talking with the owner, who explained why the paving was done the way it was, I gave my apologies for the "C" rating last year. I am very happy with the work that was done and I highly recommend Lighting to everyone! Thank you for taking the time to make things right with me and you now have a lifelong customer!"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Syracuse, NY

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
