"We couldn't be happier with Sean Reed. We're first-time home buyers, and he took the time to walk us through every aspect of the properties, and educated us on what to look for and what to look out for. I say "properties" because we ended up not going with the first house we had put an offer on, mainly because Sean pointed out so many things to us that we hadn't seen and didn't notice. We also needed him to do a radon test at each property. A typical test lasts two-days, and then Sean e-mails you the report, including an hour-by-hour breakdown of radon levels, plus the overall average level in the 48 hour period. The house we ended up buying had some radon problems, and Sean and an unaffiliated radon mitigation company worked hard to bring the levels down to EPA standards before the close of escrow. The mitigation company did all the installation work and were very diligent, but Sean was willing to leave his radon test equipment in the house for about a week, resetting and retesting to make sure that we had an accurate report so we were kept up-to-date on the levels. The bottom line is this: Sean Reed is thorough, punctual, friendly, knowledgeable, easy-going, and honest. He encourages questions from his clients, and genuinely loves what he does. He not only helped mitigate the radon, but he also mitigated our anxiety about buying a house. Sean Reed is the go-to guy for home inspections."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Very professional along with complete report and photos. Jeanne took the time to explain all parts of the report in detail and called to follow up with me to see if I had any questions about the report."

"The space between our house and the neighbors retaining wall was very narrow on this side. Yet Basement Systems did not get any dirt or debris in the neighbors yard. They were using heavy equipment and some hand tools. I don't think that I could have done it by hand and not gotten lots of dirt in the neighbors yard ( their yard is below ours ) . Basement Systems were very nice , professional and really knew what they were doing. They even sent an email with a picture of the man coming to give an estimate. They left the yard in a very clean and pristine condition. I wish that all the people that I hired were as professional, good and clean as Premier Basement Systems. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Tensed, ID

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
