"Booked the appointment via web site late last night, selected the 2:00-4:00pm time slot. Justin called about 2:38pm to say they were dumping out the truck but would soon be on the way. Justin and two other guys arrived about 3:05pm, still within the 2-hour window so not really "late". Showed them the 3 piles of yard waste I wanted picked up and hauled away (one 18x8x3' pile, one 8x7x2', one 6x3x2' -- approximately -- so total of about 580 cubic feet). Justin didn't think they could get all of it in one truck load, but I was pretty sure they could get most of it, so went ahead and approved the job after Justin told me what the cost would be for a full truck. Note: Junk-King charges by volume of the truck needed to haul away your junk. They will charge you in increments of 1/8th of the truck's volume, up to a full truck. I forget the dimensions of their trucks (the bed is 15' long, I guess the width is about 6' and height about 5-6'), they claim their trucks hold about as much as 6 full-size pickup trucks. Anyway, the team of 3 guys were here for about 1.5 hours picking up my yard waste piles and carrying the stuff to the truck. They did indeed get 99% of my yard waste on to the truck, although they had to climb up in the truck a few times and jump up and down on the stuff to compact it to make more room. Note that the pickup is all manual: hands and arms and backs! It would've been nice if they had a couple of those 4-tined I-don't-know-what-you-call-them so I'll say "hay rakes" with them, which would've made picking up the material and carrying it to the truck a bit easier. I didn't insist on them picking up every bit of cut stalk or limb of leaf, but honestly they didn't really leave that much behind. Nothing that I can't rake up in an hour and bag up for regular curb-side pickup. The cost to me was $468 (I got a $30 discount off of the regular full-truck fee of $498 for booking via the web site). That's probably just a bit expensive for 1.5 hours of pickup work by 3 guys and removal of ~600 cubic feet of yard waste, but I am satisfied with the job done because a) I didn't have to play phone tag for days to get someone out to give me an estimate, b) I booked conveniently on-line and they arrived when they were supposed to, c) the guys were pleasant and quick working, and d) I got rid of a bunch of yard waste all at once without it taking months to have a curb-side pile picked up by the county contractor once per week. I might have benefited from getting quotes from one or two of the more "traditional" brush-hauling outfits around here, but my experience with those types of outfits is that you play phone tag with them and then they still don't always show up at the appointed time/date, and I doubt I would've saved more than $100 anyway."

"Fantastic job. Kyle has done other remodeling and repair jobs for us over the years. Several years ago, probably around 7-8 years ago, I called Kyle about replacing our 20 year old (maybe older?) roof. At that time, he said that the roof still had another 5 years or so of good out of it. When we developed a leak after our last big storm, he came and made a quick patch (for free) and gave us an estimate on a total replacement. He replaced our roof and everything was done very professionally and it turned out great. He even repaired a problem on our rafters at no additional cost (something that couldn't be seen at the time of the estimate for replacing the roof). Everything was cleaned up very nicely. We went with a metal roof instead of shingles and we love it. (He was even nice enough to have his workers dig out an old basketball goal that was by the driveway)"

"Great/excellent!! The two guys that came and took furniture apart, wrapped, and packed were beyond excellent. Everything was done so professional. Oh! And Labeled every box/marked so we know exactly what is in there. This company is a excellent company for packing and I would Not hesitate to hire them for moving of any sort. Mr Anthony thank you for working with me and for sending me two excellent workers, James and Greg. Can’t say enough except “Your Company is the TOPs!!”"

"I was very pleased with how Mary and her team worked with me especially when the dealer had a glitch in the paperwork and the scheduled pick-up had to be postponed for a few days. Very professional and I was very pleased with the fair price. Would most certainly use again!"

"30 + year old sleeper sofa/armchair were included with purchase of cabin... we could hardly lift the sofa, let alone get it through doorways and down stairs. No one could suggest how to get rid of it. When I called Chase, I really didn't expect help. But they did not hesitate! Scheduled a date; day before, confirmed; and day of pickup called when they were on the way. Two professional men removed the furniture with no trouble. I haven't been so happy with a business transaction in years."

"We had a few contractors over to give us estimates. It was summer and kind of busy season so they all took a week or more to get back to us. I think EHS were among the fastest, which we appreciated and the least expensive, which we really appreciated. I mean we got one estimate to reface our existing cabinets - 1500. For 2600 or so EHS said they could replace our cabinets with new ones, build a little wall to block the view of our washer / dryer (in our kitchen), and remove some soffits that were wasting space and cramping our kitchen. <br /> So we hired them to do that and more. For expanding the entrance way, one contractor wanted 3k. For the same price, EHS expanded the entrance way, and tiled our shower, and put in new counters and sink, and did some touch-up painting, and installed a couple of ceiling fans, and installed new locks. <br /> Good quality, good price. Jeff and Wes and the subcontractors I met were always polite and responded to calls or messages in a reasonable amount of time. I would use EHS again. <br />"

FAQs for waste, junk, building materials and debris removal and hauling projects in Thomasville, GA

To throw out stained, broken, or infested mattresses or couches, call a junk hauler or take it to your local landfill yourself. If it’s infested with pests, you might want to call a pest control specialist near you. If you have infested furniture, there's a good chance you have an infested home, too.

Tipping furniture removal services is not mandatory, but it is a thoughtful way to acknowledge their hard work and professionalism. If you're pleased with the service, consider tipping junk haulers 5% to 10% of the total cost or $10 to $20 per worker. This is especially appreciated when the job involves heavy lifting, navigating stairs, or handling bulky items. Tipping not only rewards the workers for a job well done but also fosters a positive working relationship.

If your furniture is in good condition, you have a few options:

  • Donate to charities: Organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and GreenDrop often accept furniture donations and may offer free pickup services.

  • List online: You can list your items for free on local online marketplaces or community groups to find someone who needs them. Giving away your furniture not only helps you clear space but also benefits others in your community.

The cost to haul away junk depends on the haul’s size. A single item costs $60 to $150 to haul, with each additional item adding $20 to $40 to the total price. Hauling away a full truckload of trash or other junk will run $400 to $800.

Yes, some furniture retailers will haul away your old furniture when they deliver your new items. This service may be included in your purchase price or offered at a discounted rate. It's important to check with the store to see if they provide furniture removal and whether there are any requirements, such as a minimum purchase. Utilizing this service can save you time and effort in disposing of your old furniture.

In many cases, you can dispose of furniture in a dumpster, but regulations vary by location. Some areas prohibit items like mattresses or upholstered furniture due to environmental concerns. It's best to check with your local waste management authorities or dumpster rental company to understand what's allowed.
