"Great service. Abran arrived on time, was very polite and did an excellent job of installing my ceiling fan with a light fixture attached. Fair price for service. I will recommend and hire him again."

"Overall work was done well. One outlet was wired incorrectly, but was tested before the electrician left. Unfortunately GFCI was blown due to incorrect wiring. Electrician replaced outlet at no charge and I exchanged the GFCI at hardware store and installed myself. No harm no foul. I was supposed to get an invoice sent via email after the fact, but I never got it. Required work was completed and price was reasonable."

"You know the old joke: "How many ______ does it take to ..." fill in the blanks... That was my actual experience with Michael at HL Services Landscaping. How many guys does it take to change a sprinkler valve? In Michael's case: THREE. I had originally contacted Michael because one of my vacuum breakers was leaking. When he got here, he replaced the parts - but that didn't quite fix it, so he ended up replacing the Rain Bird DFV (valve). I watched him several times during the process and he was obviously training the other two guys with him. In fact, I told the guys they were lucky to have a good teacher. But when it came time to bill me, he charge me labor for ALL THREE of them. It caught me off guard, so with out questioning, I paid him. Later thinking about it, and having done a fair amount of handiwork myself, I thought...seriously? Three guys to change a sprinkler valve? So sent Michael the following text: Hi Michael. Wanted to thank you for your work yesterday - and at the same time, voice a concern. If I had hired you to come landscape our front yard, I could understand bringing two helpers. But to just change a valve, it should be a one man job, and I should have been charged as such. I hope to work with you in the future, but for me to establish continued relationships, I feel honesty is important, so I have to voice my concerns. In the future, I will be sure to clarify how many people you are planning to bring…and ask WHY. Sometimes I understand it is an unknown - will you have to dig out pipes?, etc. But in that case, I would recommend giving an accurate estimate on the job, then returning with the appropriate number of helpers if needed. I hope you understand. His response? None. I've waited 15 days to write this review, hoping we would respond - but alas - no response. His initial communication (to get the job) was very responsive. But after the job was complete, he was unresponsive. Also, he up-charges the parts quite a bit, but my guess is that's fairly standard in the industry."

"They did a nice job. The owner is friendly; he offered to do regular maintenance twice a month for a nice price. He's very busy, and
sometimes doesn't come when expected or do all the maintenance I expect (mow the lawn, but not trim the bushes).

FAQs for outdoor lighting plan and installation projects in Tome, NM

Permit requirements for outdoor lighting vary depending on your location and project scope. Simple fixture replacements don't require permits, but projects involving new electrical circuits, extensive trenching, or significant system expansions often do. Local building departments establish these requirements, and many professional electricians handle permit applications as part of their service package.

The timeline for outdoor lighting installation varies based on project complexity. Basic systems might require only one to two days for complete installation, while extensive lighting networks with numerous fixtures and complex wiring needs could extend to a week or longer. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and soil characteristics can all influence how quickly professionals can complete your installation.

Outdoor lighting offers both practical and aesthetic benefits that many homeowners find valuable. Beyond enhancing nighttime visibility and security, well-designed lighting can highlight architectural features and extend outdoor living hours. While installation represents a significant investment, quality lighting may potentially increase property appeal and could contribute to overall home value.

Some outdoor lighting projects are suitable for homeowner installation, particularly simple solar fixtures or low-voltage systems that plug into existing outlets. However, projects requiring new electrical connections, permanent wiring, or integration with home electrical systems demand professional expertise. Electrical work carries inherent safety risks, and improper installation could create fire hazards or code violations.

The operating cost for outdoor lighting depends primarily on your fixture types, bulb selection, and usage patterns. Energy-efficient LED fixtures consume significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or halogen alternatives. Controlling your lighting with timers, photocells, or motion sensors can further reduce energy usage by ensuring lights operate only when needed or beneficial.
