"Mike from Picture Perfect Landscaping suggested a more affordable way to fix my steps. I was very pleased with the results! It is nice to know that there are companies out there that are looking to save you money. Work was completed when he said it would be. He was very friendly and cleaned up everything when the work was complete. I would definitely hire them again!"

"As someone else said, they showed up and finished the job before other quotes came in. They leveled out a cracked concrete apron that was split into two levels and handled an unexpectedly challenging concrete removal."

"I can't even begin to describe how pleased we are with the work that Milecas and his crew did. He not only understood our vision but exceeded it. Milecas installed a patio with 2 seat walls, one with a back wall, the other with columns, both with lighting. He also installed a patio door landing with steps and lighting. Both the patio and steps were beautiful but the thing that struck me most about Milecas is his integrity and dedication to his work. The work was finished according to the schedule that we agreed on and on budget. Talking of budget, we talked to 6 contractors including Milecas and Milecas has the lowest cost and we got more for our money. I highly, without any reservation, recommend him to anyone looking to do this type of work."

"I had this company to do my front step on the patio with pavers in my backyard . the crew did the job so quick, the quotes were very reasonable. Excellent service communication between them deal with work so good also I got a break in so many small issues. I wouldn't hesitate to either company for any other project in my future and I have a recommend to all my neighbors and my friends and my family My steps look exactly the same as Mel me on his brochures. Also the only company that they do make railings to. Home to Home Construction offers top notch service. Thank you"

Small jobs welcome

"Simply an unbelievable experience. Right from the beginning we knew we were in good hands. Charlie wasted no time reviewing our needs and within 5 minutes had an estimate. With one of the vendors it took 5 days to get an estimate. Crazy. Our new steps and front walk look amazing. In short, Charlie is an artisan. He and his team will be back in the spring to replace/expand our driveway. What's really cool is I can now tell anyone needing masonry work that I know a guy. Hire Charlie...and you will too!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Toms River, NJ

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
