"These are very creative and talented carpenters. They transformed my hone into a beautiful environment. I hired them two times to continue the installation of high end moldings, a tray ceiling and arches throughout the house. People often remark regarding the beauty of their work. They are very honest and take pride in their work. They are perfectionists."

"I don't often write reviews but I am excited to write this one! Lenny, who is the owner and contractor of Lenny's Home Improvements is an exceptionally nice and talented person who came up with such amazing ideas making our kitchen and family room more spacious and absolutely beautiful! Lenny was at our home every day both working and overseeing the progress of our renovation. Lenny as well as his crew were all very pleasant and meticulous about their work. Lenny puts in the time and effort needed to be sure everything is done exactly right… to Perfection! It is so refreshing to have a contractor who actually takes pride in his work which is rare nowadays. Finally, the end result was a ‘dream come true’ for us, better than we could have envisioned and we couldn't be happier!!! Lenny often says, “I put my heart and soul into my work” and without a doubt he most definitely does! We truly love our renovated kitchen (with shining coffee bar!), Fam rm, 3 Bath rms, windows, doors!"

"Anthony Nastasi of NB Woodworks, LLc, has our highest recommendation. He has worked with us over the past year on a variety of projects aimed at refurbishing and improving our home. This has included exterior trim replacement, replacing a box window with a French door and side light unit, and replacing a large unusually sized window. He also built a beautiful mahogony deck. Indoors, he installed a french door which included fine trim work. In addition, he hired excellent subcontractors to powerwash and paint our home and build a patio, porch and walks. We highly recommend Anthony's carpentry skill, as well as his problem solving, planning and coordination skills. He is also a dependable, honest person of fine character."

"A frozen pipe in my mother’s kitchen above a finished garage left us in dire straights. The exterior of the home is brick construction from the 1950’s but the pipe froze in such a way as to run across the floor and ruin the vapor barrier in the exterior walls. How to replace it without tearing down the brick? I asked seven contractors for a bid. All came out to look at the job, but it was a complicated repair in a persnickety township. Only two of them actually gave me a bid. I chose A.W. Martin and I’m glad I did. His bid was slightly higher, but his word was true: all expenses he had reckoned with wound up being covered by our homeowner’s insurance. Plus I had direct access to Tony via his cell phone at all times - a novelty to me since it did not work that way when I had used the insurance-preferred contractor for a previous repair. Indeed, communication was superior! Tony took the time to explain all aspects of the job in layman’s terms and didn’t mind if I called back for further clarification. He advised me about modifications that wouldn’t cost much now, but would save big bucks in the future. Tony worked around my schedule, which was important to me since I lived out of state and was overseeing the project from a distance. He sent workers from his team who spoke standard English - important to my elderly mother who is hard of hearing and has trouble understanding folks with accents. (Some of his subcontractors did speak Spanish). To save me money, Tony let me provide a shelving unit that I wanted recessed in a wall, charging only for installation and trimming it. And he dealt with all aspects of the township permit process - no small deal for the township my mother lives in! His electrician, Tim Murphy, installed my preferences of where the ceiling lights should be to the inch - to the inch! This electrician came back out at no charge one week after things were finished when the washing machine ground-faulted out and my mom needed help. It hasn’t happened since. I found Tony to be amiable, generous with his time and very concerned about customer satisfaction. The one down-side was that I had requested no work over the weekends, since Saturday was my day of worship and Sunday my mother’s. I did have to take him to task for scheduling subcontractors on Saturday, and he rescheduled them. If you are a seventh-day Sabbath keeper be very explicit about your request for no Saturday work. All in all, my experience using A.W. Martin was superior. I highly recommend Tony and his company. When I started the repair I had over twenty numbers for contractors on my cell phone. After the job, I am down to four: Russel Garage Door, Rich’s Carpet One, the electrician Tim Murphy, and A.W. Martin, itself."

"Armondo, Bob, and the rest of the team did an unbelievable job. Any job you need done, they can do it for you. We just moved into our home so we were changing a number of things, big and small. The team removed interior brick and a wood burning stove - they replaced the insulation and dry wall, and also replaced shingles on the roof that needed to be removed during process and prepped just to paint. They closed off a closet in our home and built a stone veneer fireplace from scratch as attached below which we couldn’t be happier with the result. They ran all the electrical, etc. They also hung multiple light fixtures, etc, smaller project things. Overall, my wife and I couldn’t be any happier with the result of Armondo and team’s work. They do the work like it’s their own home and take pride in the finished product. They are easy to work with and can work around your schedule. Plus they are very reasonably priced. 10/10 all around."

"Nick did a great job replacing the kitchen sink and countertops plus the bathroom vanity and toilet. He was easy to work with and even picked up what I had ordered from Home Depot because I was out of town."

Small jobs welcome

"Removed popcorn ceilings, installed recessed lights and crown molding. He did an amazing job, minimized mess in adjacent rooms, worked long hours to get it done quickly. The ceilings all came out perfect. Much better than the original construction. It’s amazing how much better the rooms look after this upgrade."

FAQs for interior trim and decorative moldings installation projects in Toms River, NJ

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
