"I can safely say this is the best carpet cleaning and repair business in the Buffalo area if not all of Western New York and beyond. Brad is passionate about what he does. Polite, hardworking, and professional. I had a carpet repair and cleaning done by him and I could not be more satisfied if I tried. The work done was efficient, done in a timely manner, and was easy on the pocket book. The problem with most companies is that they clock in and out and do not put passion into what they are doing. This is not the case with carpet star. Brad explains his work and the process just like the customer was working alongside him and you can see the drive in him. I am extremely pleased and grateful that I found this company. If you are looking for carpet installation, flooring installation, cleaning/repair or just a company that has outstanding character, this company should be #1 on your list. Well worth the money"

"It was a very positive experience. The gentleman who came to give us an estimate was professional and friendly. He warned us in advance that a few of the stains would be impossible to remove. (We assumed this was the case since it was more of a discoloration than a stain.) The people who came to clean were courteous, thorough, and punctual. We have no complaints and will use this service again. They did such a good job on the living room carpet that it looks new - and we won't need to replace it as we thought we might. <br />"

"To be honest, I will not do carpeting unless its through this company. My late mother-in-law had used them and they are family owned and operated. They only use the best stuff around and they have the best service in town. They have built a good reputation and they are very well established. They deserve only the highest of grades for their carpet selection, supply, and installation."

"We had carpet installed in our living room, dining room, stairs, hallway, and the master bedroom.  They sub-contract whoever comes and does their carpet laying.  I did not like the guy at all; he was a jerk.  I kicked him out of my house.  There was two reasons: one, I had a cat that when we first moved in was marking its territory and the guy just had a fit about that; and then he didn't want me to clean with bleach because he doesn't like the smell of bleach and I'm thinking - I'm paying the money here, buddy.  You work for me, I don't work for you.  And then I hired him on the side, which Kenny Carpets said was fine, to like re-do some ... I wanted the stripping to match on that linoleum I have until I get it replaced, so he charged me $300 to do this work himself and it was done very poorly.  I called Kenny Carpets and complained about it; they came out and had their main guy come out and do it, and I'm still not impressed with it, not happy with it.  And so they won't be getting any more work from me.  The carpeting looked like one color in the store room, and here and then when I got it, it looked like a totally different colored carpet.  So I wasn't real thrilled with the color.  It was supposed to be a gray and it looks more like a blue.  Next time when I have more carpeting done in here, I'm going to use another provider because they have the same kind of carpet now - it's called like a pet carpeting where like if you .... I should clarify ourselves.  We have 4 cats and 3 dogs and our animals don't go through the house destroying it, making messes or stuff, but obviously every now and then if you get a sick animal or something, they'll have an accident.  This carpeting doesn't hold odors - that's why I bought it - that's why it was so much more expensive and that's what we love.  I have a carpet cleaner, I clean everything, I pre-treat, clean it, and I have the right stuff to clean it; I don't use ammonia-based products on it.  I actually have researched and got several things to do it with, but it doesn't hold odors.  This is why we purchased this carpeting.  Our house has beautiful hard woods in it.  We just put carpeting over it because our older dog does not like hard wood.  She's terrified of it, so she won't walk on them.  We put new carpeting in because the house, when we bought it, the carpeting was awful so we had to re-do it.  We spent some good money on it, but they're just not getting my service again. "

"From the beginning to the end, Mariann was on top of the project. Even when it turned out we didn't have enough laminate, all I had to do was wait for a further order. She took care of coordinating delivery and the return of the crew to install it. The crews she engaged for the three steps (vinyl, laminate, carpeting) were considerate, knowledgeable and industrious, getting their respective jobs done on time. She apologized for the inconvenience (and didn't charge me anything more), and offered to work with me on the future purchase of an area carpet in that room, when I am ready. <br /> The kitchen floor was the most difficult, owing to wooden sills that were flush with the linoleum. This meant that, upon removal of the existing linoleum, the layer underneath had to be scraped off the floorboard. This involved using power tools which kicked up a powerful amount of dust. The cleanup took me three days, as there was a coating of this dust on absoluvely everything in the kitchen, and a dusting of in adjacent rooms as well. I washed down <em>everything</em>, including boxes of pasta and bottles of spices in my pantries, and vacuumed the walls. It prompted me to finish painting the pantry interios, which had to be emptied (the only reason I didn't paint them with the rest of the kitchen earlier this year!), and this kind of propelled me into spring cleaning the likes of which the house hasn't seen in years. Not a bad thing, really. So glad I started with the kitchen, in retrospect, since I would otherwise have been mopping and vacuuming new laminate and carpet in adjacent rooms! <br /> Overall, I was extremely pleased with her help, and am <em>very </em>happy with the result. I felt their pricing was lower than the competition I perused - which included Home Depot, Lumber Liquidators and Custom Carpet Center. [As an aside, I paid $35 to have HD measure my floors, as they had a Pergo laminate I was certain I wanted, which I mentioned to the woman who set up the measure. When I got the quote call, they couldn't give me a price, because the laminate was DISCONTINUED!! So, I basically threw $35 away. I cancelled the quote at the store, explaining that the material I wanted was no longer available, and they didn't offer to return my fee. Not happy about that. After all that,I wasn't about to have them install carpeting at a cost that included a $9 per stair charge - !! ] <br />"

"<p>We had new flooring done for kitchen as part of a complete kitchen remodel.  A few weeks after the install as complete we noticed some scuff marks near the refrigerator that didn't really become evident until dirt had accumulated for a while,  We were unable to get the scuffed area as clean as the rest of the floor despite mopping regularly, including with steam mop.  My wife and I were convinced it happened when the installer moved our refrigerator back into place based on the location and shape of the scuff marks.</p> <p>The owner made an attempt to get the manufacturer (Mannington) to honor their warranty (we purchased their highest warrantied product but they rejected the claim because they said the scuffing did not occur in the manufacturing process).  The owner came over personally on several occasions and tried different ways to resolve the problem but finally determined that it was permanent.  </p> <p>I suggested that Warren's gave me a deep discount on new carpet for my Living/Dining Room, Family Room and steps, although not so deep that they would incur a loss.  He offered an extremely fair discount percentage off any carpet we selected (as opposed to offering me great price on a low quality carpet).  My wife and I picked out three different carpets, all of which were top quality.  I was prepared for the owner to try to make back some of the discount by charging me a bit more on the padding or install but he did not.  We're thrilled with the new carpet, can live with the slight blemish on the floor, and walked away with a great deal of respect for Warren and his local Carpet One business.  It was very clear that customer service was very important to him and that he made every effort to leave his customers satisfied.  </p> <p>I was not always patient during this process but Warren was patient, professional and fair from day one through the final installation.  His carpet installers were great guys as well.  I would use Warren's again, or recommend him to someone without the slightest hesitation.</p> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Tonawanda, NY

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
