"He was punctual, polite, professional and very pleasant to work with. He did not waste time. He and his helper helped me with 3 distinct job: replacing a cracked toilet, installing a new shower head and replacing a disposal. His prices were spot-on and I will have him back to install a new vanity in my bathroom. THANK YOU Cale and Eric!"

"Steve preformed his job with expertise and professionalism. I shopped three different foundation repair companies before choosing American. All three sale representatives were nice. All three offered a different price. I recommend American Foundation to everyone."

"AFS took on our helical pier and sump pump installation on our new home and we were offered competitive pricing, efficient communication, and a timely/clean installation. Our sales rep was Ben who was always available and informed, Tanner installed our sump pump system and was equally impressive, and Peyton managed a crew installing our piers who left the jobsite as clean as they found it. I recommend AFS for all your helical pier and sump pump needs!"

"Went great ... I am a builder and many of my customers have used this company in the past and all have been very pleased with the service and quality of product. After having min installed I will definitely continue to recommend them in the future!"

"These guys were great!  From the first call to their office they scheduled us right in for an inspection.  When the inspector came he was organized, curious and extremely informative. When the job started, the crew was on time and worked unbelievably hard throughout the entire day, these men were super thorough. The foremen positioned the sump pump and discharge line so it was almost invisible to the naked eye.   Required a drain through the wall of the house. They also finished the job 1/2 day earlier then they had anticipated.  When they finished the job the basement was left clean and neat.  We got several quotes for the waterproofing and we are very happy with the results we got from AmeriDry. I highly recommend them.  And we would hire them again if needed.

"Grant and his crew did a wonderful job. I was so stressed because after telling the people at pods the contents of my house they assured me a 16’ pod would be sufficient. On moving day I needed 2 pods. The second pod was not available. Budget Pro Movers took over and told me not to worry they would take care of everything and they did. I am very grateful and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Townsend, TN

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
