"I am a first-time home buyer who was looking to buy in Newark, NJ. I was Hesitant about the foundation walls, heating and electrical systems in the home. Because they are well-regarded as trustworthy a friend of mine, who had previously had issues with her home, suggested I call Quality Home Inspections. When I spoke with the gentleman on the phone (very polite), All my questions were answered in detail and my concerns were alleviated. Quality Home Inspections also provided me with lead and radon inspections. The best part of all was receiving the inspection results in a time efficient manner. They were very professional. I am currently moving forward with purchasing the house and recommending Quality Home Inspections to anyone looking for a great lead/radon home inspection Service."

"Scott from Landmark Inspections performed a home inspection of the home my husband and I are purchasing. We are first time home buyers and this is our first home inspection. We were very impressed with Scott from beginning to end. Before the inspection, he was responsive and communcative, answering every one of our phone calls and emails. The inspection was thorough and Scott and his trainee inspector (also Scott) took the time to answer our questions and explain everything they were doing/finding. The inspection did not feel rushed or like Scott was trying to get through it to move on to the next. The report he sent us (48 hours after the inspection, great turn around time) was very throrough, contained useful information about our future home, and clearly laid out a heirarchy for recommended repairs. We also got a termite inspection, sewer scope inspection (which was also performed incredibly professionally by Melvin from Knox & Knox Solutions), and raydon test. In total, we paid a lot of money for these services, but it was money very well spent. We would not hesitate to recommend Scott, Landmark, and the other service professionals with whom he contracts."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"John was a fantastic choice! First off, he was extremely flexible and patient. We had to change the date last minute, and John did it for us even though he was very busy. Then, the day of our inspection, our realtor was an HOUR late... And while we were all annoyed, John was very professional about it and didn't rush to make up for the time. When we first got there, John walked around the outside with his colleague and showed us all of the little things he noticed. This is my husband and I's first home, so we don't know what to look for usually. John also showed us a HUGE issue with the roof/addition to the house and explained it to us in a way that was easy to understand. Once our realtor finally arrived and we got inside, they did an extremely thorough job of inspecting everything. They showed my husband all the issues with the roofing and other parts of the home. All in all, I learned a lot about the home we are hoping to purchase (once it's fixed). John did a phenomenal job explaining everything to us. His report came with many pictures and great explanations. If for some reason this deal falls through, he will be the guy we call to inspect the next house."

"I called ComfortSpec and immediately was able to set up a date for an inspector to come out. We are purchasing a home and it needed to be done quickly so this was one less thing to worry about. They gave me my estimate and informed me of what each test would be as well as sent an email with the information. They also let me know what was expected on our end. The inspector came out and was very professional and informative about what he was looking at and where things were for the home as far as shut offs and electrical panels. The report was sent to me quickly and designed to help me understand the findings."

"They did a really good job. We got the results back from post remediation and they were below 4 picos per liter. It was a very good experience. They're very easy to work with, show up on time, got the work done, got the radon level down to where it needs to be."

"The inspection went incredibly well. My cantankerous husband (whose account this is) was thoroughly impressed! The inspection was SO thorough, easy to read, prompt and professional! Unfortunately, he will be unable to do our current inspection for another house that we found, and I am having a nervous breakdown! I HIGHLY recommend scheduling with AHI. You will know what you are getting into, and possibly save $75,000 like we did!! <br />"

"Ross was an ideal home inspector and our experience was very smooth working with him. He was not only punctual but was also flexible to accommodate the home owners needs. He went over it thoroughly and educated us for all the impending stuffs for the builders to finish. I would highly recommend him for my friends and neighbors. The inspection reports were sent within 24 hours. We are undergoing the Radon Test this week, so the above review was only for the home inspection, as of now. Regards- Deep"

FAQs for radon gas testing projects in Trenton, NJ

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. The gas seeps through cracks in foundations and collects in basements and other low areas. Once you breathe it in, radioactive particles lodge in lung tissue and do long-term damage. Because you can’t see or smell radon, the EPA recommends testing your home every two years—and after major renovations—to keep your family safe.

Yes—every home should be tested. The EPA advises doing it at least every two years and any time you remodel, buy, or sell. On average, one in 15 houses nationwide sits above the recommended limit, and the only way to know where yours stands is a formal test. The equipment simply measures gas levels and won’t change your indoor environment, so the process is completely harmless.

Certified radon professionals—often home inspectors or dedicated radon mitigation contractors—handle testing. These radon testing professionals follow EPA protocols and use calibrated instruments to check levels throughout your house. Hiring a certified radon specialist means results you can trust for real estate deals, insurance requirements, and, most importantly, your family’s health.

Inspectors specialize in measuring radon gas levels, while licensed mitigation contractors design and install the systems that remove it. If your test comes back high, your inspector can point you to a qualified mitigation pro who will size and install the right fan, piping, or other equipment to bring levels down.

No—standard home air purifiers don’t touch radon. They’re built to trap dust and pollen, not radioactive gas. If testing shows high levels, you’ll need a dedicated mitigation system that vents the gas from beneath your home to the outdoors. Relying on a room purifier alone won’t keep your indoor air safe.

Opening a few windows in your home might dilute radon for a short time, but the gas seeps back in as soon as they’re closed. For a lasting fix, you’ll need a professional mitigation system—often a sub-slab depressurization fan—that pulls radon from beneath the foundation and safely vents it outside.
