"Miguel was very quite and polite. There was absolutely no pressure or attempt to beguile me into a deeper project. His crew was respectful as well. They played their music at a low volume not disrupting myself or neighbors. This has been a problem with other work crews in my neighborhood. Miguel did exactly what he said he would do. He even installed 2 new roof vents for no additional cost. He was on schedule and was successfully in and out of the project. He did not claim to know it all yet had the confidence as some one who does. My snap shot of him was a very polite, professional, well manner, and balanced individual. The roof repair he and his crew did tied into the existing roof as if there had been no damage to begin with. Other roofers tried to sell me an entire roof replacement. Me, knowing what I know, knew this to be false. People, what I have said here is true. A very reputable roofing company tried to sell me an entire teardown and replacement. They could not guarantee that their crew was good enough to repair 3 areas without potential leaking. This was astonishing to me. Miguel and his crew came in and did what I knew could be done. They did it professionally, honestly, and reasonably priced. He killed me with love but backed it up with a job well done. This is the first review iv"e ever written. I have no regrets in hiring Miguel. You'll see what I mean when you speak then meet with him. Yes, I give a 100% recommendation for Miguel and his crew. This project for me became stress free when I put it into the hand of Miguel. Thank you Miguel and Golden Hawk."

"Everything was completed to my satisfaction. They did a very good job in some of the difficult areas. For example, painting around thick vines growing on porch columns and beam. Everything I pointed out in the inspection was taken care of promptly with no excuses. Communication was good with everyone involved. I would have no qualms about using company again or recommending to others. Following are a couple of minor issues we had. A few minor issues: We had 3 gallons of left over trim paint. That seemed like an error in estimating amount needed. On the other hand, there was only 1/2 gal. of main color left which is what I would expect for trim also. My hot tub was unplugged before they started because it was empty. The crew plugged it in when they finished without checking with me. It was several hours before I noticed it. I had to reset the heater unit but no damage was done."

"Joe was super responsive and professional throughout the project. We ran into a few glitches here and there but he was always on the phone and in most cases on site within 24 hours. He was respectful, forthright, and communicative. The siding crew was great - cleaned up every day, checked in with us when they saw us, worked long hours to get the job done. The painting crew was a bit less clean in terms of the site, but we understand there were some new painters on the crew. When the old siding came off the front porch and we saw that it was "under engineered" Joe was great in terms of giving us options from a shoring up to a full rebuild. We went with the rebuild, which complicated the timing and crews a bit and slowed things down. The carpenter on the porch was great as well. In the end we were very satisfied with the job and with Joe and company (despite the porch throwing everything off by months)."

"I have lived in this house for 25 years, and the only project I truly feared was siding.  I have made LOTS of changes to the property  over time, but always stopped short of siding.  This was a scary project, but I signed-up because of Fine Finish Remodeling's reputation on Angie's list, etc.   Also, the siding REALLY needed to be replaced -- in some areas, it was practically held together by paint.  Other exterior improvements (roof, front door and garage door) were being done by other contractors, during the same time period.

-- Mark Stevens is owner / contractor of Fine Finish Remodeling.  He did an excellent job of communicating and moving this project along, and referring out to others as needed.  The supervisor,  Kevin Dunsworth was great, and the house shows that. 

-- Delays happened, because they do.  The contractor had some issues. The weather was sometimes lousy.  PARR lumber delivered some of the materials to somewhere else, which stopped work for about a week.  Holidays happened. People had illnesses.   Siding work stopped while  the roof was repaired and replaced (2 days).  ETC.   In general, I was impressed to watch the changes take shape.  I believe it all moved along as quickly as it could.

--I was part of the problem too.  Two different garage door companies had volunteered their opinion that I could have one BIG garage door, rather than 2 smaller doors, if I wanted to do that.  It would be no problem, according to them.  I talked to Mark, about this, and he told me what could happen if the garage door men were wrong, and recommended I consult a  structural engineer first.  He gave me a name; I called; and the short version is a huge new beam was needed.  It took 6 men to lift that into place.  The final garage door outcome is perfect. Many thanks to Mark for coordinating the extra work my super-sized garage door required.

--Logistically, the siding was removed and replaced from sides and back of house first, leaving the street appearance somewhat intact until the end.  Hardie Plank siding comes with color, but the trim is just primed, so my family did a lot of painting in our garage, and other locations.  Kevin was kind enough to give warning when there was trim to paint for an inside angle, since that would have been nasty to do after it was installed.  I had one area outside the master bedroom that had always looked strange, for the way the old trim and siding met under the eaves.  I pointed that out, and Kevin fixed it with the new trim and siding. 

--When the house was finished, it was slightly wider than it used to be, sufficiently that the downspouts no longer fit. Mark gave me the names of area gutter companies, and the first one came right out and made new downspouts and cleaned the gutters too for a great price.

--The house exterior is done, and it looks great-- and the street noises are much quieter, and odd drafts are gone.  My scary project turned out to be a good experience with a happy outcome."

"The sales person did a good job explaining the work needed, what they would do, and provided a clear estimate. I purchased the plus package with ridge vents. The crew did a good job removing and installing the new roof, boards, and skylight. We had an issue with too much oil on a packag or two of the shingles which created an interesting look on my roof. We worked through the issue by holding payment for that part of the work until the oil faded (a few months). It has been about a year and the roof is doing well."
