"Arrow is a company I recommend. They have great customer service and he has a very friendly crew. They done an excellent job asphalt my driveway. When Jim Wells came he had a full crew 8 or more. They went to work and kept working until they got done which only took them one day.I was so impress on how well they work as a team. I had a drain outside by my driveway that need to be open so the water from my basement can drain out good.Jim open up the outside drain and made me a trench so that the water can flow away from my house which was very nice of him."

"After calling multiple companies for bids and speaking to multiple Contractor Friends of mine I chose Topps Paving to repave my parents driveway. All of their workers were extremely professional and courteous to me and my 75 year old father who watched the entire time and asked questions of the crew. Allow a large window to schedule as rain will interfere with a dry paving surface and effect when they can complete the asphalt paving. Overall, I spoke with everyone from the crew to the office secretary to the owner of the company and all were professional and accommodating. I highly recommend this paving company <br />"

"<p>The project was delayed first because I had to secure the loan and then he was working on another project. The loan took at most one week to secure. I contacted him that I was ready to start only to find he had put me a couple of jobs back. At this point I was making payments on my equity loan while he worked other jobs. He did offer to cancel the contract but I did not want to go through the process of interviewing contractors again.</p> <p>We started the job and while shopping for the vanity cabinet, toilet, tile, sink, etc, I realized that he low balled all items. When I asked about this Mr. Lay stated if he put a higher dollar amount on the contract he would not get any business. </p> <p> He did the work on my job while working another larger job and a couple of times we had the discussion that he was hurried on my job. He always stated he wasn't hurried. The work continued.</p> <p> When it came to tiling the walls around the bathtub and the floor of the bathroom,  I assumed he knew what he was doing. I had purchased bullnose tiles for around the shower walls at a higher expense than  the tile.  He caulked the bullnose and ruined the finished  effect they should have had. The tile on the walls of the bath area are uneven. The grouted line  is a very wide in some areas and narrow in others giving a very  unprofessional appearance.</p> <p> After the job was completed I had some personal family issues and when things settled down I contacted Mr. Lay to see what he could do to correct the mistakes and make me feel better about the job. He did come to the house and looked at the job and told me that  without ruining the walls there was nothing he could do.  </p> <p>Everyday that I go into my bathroom I feel I was made a terrible choice for a contractor, for a tile job and that I threw my hard earned money away. Mr. Lay, personally, is a very kind man. He was very neat in his work as far as cleaning up at the end of each day, but his tiling work leaves much to be desired.</p> <br />"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Troy, IL

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
