Customers say: Quality work

"Clayton and his team performed great in installing our concrete patio, on time and on budget and I donâ t want to have a negative review about his work at all. However, he suggested a contractor (Keith) to stain my existing patio and do an overlay on my back porch. This contractor came and gave me an estimate and I accepted it based on Claytonâ s recommendation. The contractor put stain in our concrete and also came back and did an overlay on our existing patio slab with a different border color. A month later the freeze occurred and when everything thawed the stain on my patio lifted off and looked terrible. Keith came and looked at it and said the stain lifting off was due to the freeze and he had several customers that had contacted him about the same issue. He blamed the manufacturer. Had I known the stain finish was subject to freezing I never would have spent the money. Also the overlay on my back porch chipped off. Keith came and looked at it and said it need to be redone. He sent another contractor to do the repair and the color was very orange instead of brown. Keith came and looked at it and said it needed to be removed and redone. I have texted him several times with no response. Since that time he will not return my texts. No bad reviews on Clayton and All Out, but look elsewhere for your staining and overlaysâ ¦.."

"Had a great experience with integrated outdoor designs building a deck to extend our patio and replacing a front railing. Kyle came and did a great job drawing out what I wanted built. They were prompt to start the work and help with my HOA approval. Would definitely recommend! We love our new outdoor space!"

"Was very happy with the work performed. Also and his team were very professional and kept the worksite clean. Adolfo’s dad even made a ramp for my small dog to go up and down from the deck. I would definitely recommend Genesis construction to anyone looking for a contractor. Their price was very reasonable for the quality of materials and service I received.. I would definitely hire them again should I have additional projects."

": Quick response with coming out to give me a quote. Once the price was agreed on they came out the next day to do the patio. Once the concrete dried I noticed the gravel wasn?t completely smoothed all the way on the front side which left a lot of loose gravel. As soon as I noticed I messaged Brian and he said he was coming out to fix it. After multiple attempts to set up a time for him to come out, he never showed up. It?s just very discouraging when you are paying for work and being told they will come out to fix it but never do. "

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Universal City, TX

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
