"Downs Mechanical Heating and Plumbing did a great job repairing my in floor radiant heating system.   The problem was with balanced pressure in our heating system.  Water and glycol were leaking out of the system every time it ran.  I got an estimate from a different company to do the work.  That company charged nearly $400 for the estimate and did nothing to help with the problem.  That company's estimate was over $5,000.  Wanting a second opinion, I found Downs Mechanical on Angie's List and decided to give them a try.  The tech responded quickly, replaced out several valves and rebalanced the system.  The cost was $650.  I called back two weeks after the work was done as there was still a little water coming out of the overflow.  Bill, the owner of Downs Mechanical, personally came out and fine tuned the system.  He did this at no cost.    It is a relief to find honesty and integrity in this valley at an reasonalbe price.   <br>"

"I joined Angie's List in 2013 and I liked the service I received from Pacific Plumbing so much that I had to post a review, even though the service was provided in 2010 and 2011.  Robert has shown up exactly on time for all but one scheduled appointment I have had with him, and for the one delay, he called before the scheduled time to let me know he was running late.  He knows his business and I have complete trust in his abilities and his recommendations.  He did the plumbing in two bathrooms that I remodeled myself.  I appreciated the extra time he took to answer my questions about  shower, sink and toilet installation which I planned to do myself.  In my second bathroom remodel, I installed a custom fabricated shower pan that was extremely heavy.  I contracted Robert to prepare the shower drain so that the shower pan could be installed and when he was finished, he offered to help move the shower pan into place before he left (not part of the contracted job).  I was so grateful for his help because I don't know that my husband and I could have placed it ourselves.  I find his prices to be very reasonable, but to be honest, I don't bother to gather estimates anymore.  Robert is MY plumber! <br /> I am about to start remodeling my kitchen and he will be moving the refrigerator water line from one wall to another.  I can hardly wait to work with Robert again.  He is a delight!  <br /> I go out of my way to recommend Pacific Plumbing any time I can. <br />"

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"<p><br /></p> <p>I had a complete overhaul of my kitchen with everything replaced.  I contacted Kitchen & Bath Ideas and was assisted by Clarke Coons.   He helped me to pick out all my cabinets with the wood and design that I wanted.  He also worked with the countertop installers.  I could always count on him to show up at the time we agreed upon which seems to be unusual with the other workers who did different jobs for me.  Clarke came to the house several times to do measurements just to be sure everything would be just right.  The cabinets arrived when he promised and afterward he came back to the house to inspect those and the granite counter tops.  Be assured if you deal with Clarke you will be pleased.  I found him very dependable and easy to work with.</p>"

"I own a business and have multiple properties, so I have worked with many contractors of varied age and experience.  I can say without hesitation that Ben is the best.  He has such a wide range of knowledge to everything from floor plan renovations with structural concerns to expertise in landscaping.  His crew is polite and professional, and they always leave the job site so clean at the end of every day.   Ben is diligent about completing a job on time - even if it means late nights or weekends.  For all that, I think what impresses me most about him is his genuine care in the quality of his work and the satisfaction of his clients.  This is such a rare and extraordinary quality.  I have never worked with someone of his caliber before and highly recommend him for any and all projects. Scope of work: -commercial renovation, including reworking load-bearing walls, pouring concrete, new bathroom, reworking all electrical, furnishing new wood stairs, and installing a full wall of glass -kitchen renovation which included new counters, sink, cabinets, and new appliance layout, all new electrical, lighting, and paint -entryway including new tile, paint and electrical -outdoor renovation including a custom build gas fireplace, rerouting gas lines, elaborate tiled fountain, exterior lighting, demo and pouring of all new concrete, pergola, laying turf, installing outdoor lighting and new landscaping -conference room renovation, closing in exterior walls, new dry wall, new electrical, glass garage door -full property renovation including extensive demolition, reworking of entire floor plan, pouring footers for an addition, new framing, new HVAC, new roof, roof top deck, entirely reworked electrical, new kitchen, 3 ensuite bathrooms, all new windows, glass garage door installation, brick repair, tree removal, exterior painting and new landscaping"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Vail, CO

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
