"Outstanding. The team removed an old fence and replaced it with a cedar fence and gate. It looks great, and the team was very professional and flexible. After comparing multiple companies, Phoenix gave us the greatest value for their service."

"Absolutely fabulous! He called the day after I booked it online with Angie's Lisa and came out that very day. I gave him a few specific instructions and they were followed to the letter! This is the best job in all the 27 years I've lived in my home. No one will be disappointed by his work. He's excellent. He even gave great advice about my deck and recommended I wait a year or more before doing any cleaning or staining. That's integrity!"

"I've used Sharper Cut to develop the gardens in front of the house, terrace the front garden for a level field for the trees, bushes, plants and water fountain, and build out the back garden to include and expanded patio and fishpond with waterfall. Their work is superior...and helps give the house a more inviting exterior view to family and guests. I'd recommend them for any project great or small...and they can tailor the project for future growth based on your budget! The winter refresh and clean up went exceptionally well...as their work always provides!"

"They responded quickly to my inquiry phone call. They had an affordable and reasonable price and were able to come out right away, so we decided to give them a try. The guys were very efficient in getting set up, offered to help me move some items on my screened in porch and helped encourage the kids to clear the area before they started. They moved anything away from the house that could be damaged. They did a great job - my house looks so nice and clean! We will definately have them come back again when we need the house pressure washed in the future. Great Job Advanced Pressure Washing! <br />"

"We had a wonderful experience with Deck Cetera from start to finish.  My wife and I originally wanted to replace the decking on our 26 foot by 16 foot deck while keeping the existing foundation.  The existing deck was not very old (4 years,) but was built with poor quality wood and didn't survive the Annapolis weather too well.  We contacted a number of companies we researched off of Angie's List and began the meet and greet process. <br /> The biggest issue my wife and I had was that we, like many other homeowners, were rather unsure as to what we wanted.  We knew we needed the decking replaced, but we wanted our yard to look nice and be useable.  I liked the idea of a portion of the deck being screened in and my wife liked the idea of a nice large patio that sits off the deck. <br /> While most the companies we contacted did come speak with us and give us accurate estimates, none gave us as much help and detail as Deck Cetera did.  Jean from Deck Cetera came to our house no less than 4 times and each time she sat with us to discuss options, draw sketches of the yard, estimate cost, and make professional recommendations.  While the other companies we contacted were interested in quoting what we wanted, Jean from Deck Cetera was more interested in ensuring we were happy with our investment and that we were comfortable and happy with our design. <br /> My wife and I must have gone through no less than 10 iterations of our yard design and Jean from Deck Cetera remained patient with us and was sure not to force us into any decisions or to act pushy in any way.  What we decided on was a 3-5 year plan that involved initially replacing the decking and building out the structure of the deck so that it could (in the future) support a screen room, as well a building a nice paver patio off the deck with a sitting wall.  <br /> Deck Cetera had a crew out as soon as we made our decision and the work was done very quickly with no interference to our day-to-day activities.  The workers were extremely professional and the quality of the work is fantastic.  We were very pleased with our end result and will be sure to use them again in the future."

"We are extremely pleased with the work of Earth Friendly Services overall.  How the space looks now really exceeds what our expectation was for the end result.  Our basement space was pretty much a mess and posed a number of remodeling challenges, including a very uneven floor surface, moving of the gas meter, support poles in weird places, multiple water valves and other items that require access.  Yet with how it looks now, you'd never know it was such a mess to begin with.  Both of the lead guys for the company, Steve and Bill, were good listeners and were patient with our questions and our issues as things came up when they were doing the work.  Both of them had good attention to detail and worked to get to what we wanted, rather than what would have been easiest for them.  For example, we asked them to use a type of drop-ceiling tile they'd not worked with before, and they got it done, with the result being a fantastic-looking, modern ceiling, rather than the industrial look most weird spaces end up using.  There was no down-time during the project, as someone (usually several people) was/were down in the basement working every day, resulting in their finishing the job exactly in the timeframe that they said they would (originally they said it would take three to three-and-a-half weeks, and they were done in three weeks and three days).  There was none of that "Hey, this is going to cost a little more than we said it would" or any of the nightmare stories you hear from other people getting their basements finished.  It cost exactly what they said it would up-front.  Further, their total cost was $8K lower than the closest bid we received <strong>for the same job!</strong>  It sounds crazy to say this, but these days it feels like an oddity when contractors do exactly what they say they are going to do for exactly what they say it's going to cost, but that is exactly what happened in our experience with Earth Friendly.  This is the company you want to go with if you are on a budget yet nonetheless expect a quality product and a professional contractor with a solid work ethic."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Valley Lee, MD

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
