"I had some remodelling work done in the kitchen, getting new countertops. Kelly came to disconnect the old sink drains, faucet, and dishwasher in the morning before the countertops were installed. Following installation and allowing 24 hours for the silicone to dry, he returned to connect the new sinks, faucet, garbage disposal, and dishwasher. This included re-arranging the sink drains and installing cutoff valves for the hot and cold water lines to the faucet. It took a couple hours, but the job was perfect. Kelly is a great plumber, and I'd be pleased to work with him again. <br />"

"Incredibly well, John is a consummate professional, answered all my questions, and prepared an inspection report that made it easy to ask for repairs. I did not rate his prices because he was recommended by our realtor, and we did not price compare. However, I would argue Jon's professionalism, candor, and experience are worth the price he charges."

"We woke up to water on the floor and coming through the wall .  Then a secondary, unrelated problem was noted, our sump pump wasn't working.  A trusted resource recommended Trav's Plumbing; I called and  they arrived within an hour.  He was great!  assessed the problem, checked further to make sure there wasn't a more extensive problem.  He replaced the faulty piping and then replaced my sump pump. He was quick, efficient, knowledgable  and charged a fair price.  I highly recommend him!"

"We were pleased. <br /> The service tech called to let us know when he would arrive. <br /> He checked out the air conditioner, changed the filter, and checked the air flow and temperature in the house. <br /> We have an annual service agreement with Edward's Heating and Cooling, and have had one occasion to call them at night for emergency service. They have someone on call all the time, which we appreciate. <br /> The annual service charge covers spring and fall inspections of our furnace/air conditioner, and a discount on replacement parts. <br /> We have been very satisfied with their service. <br />"

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Villa Grove, IL

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
