"After another contractor left the job half done, he gave me a good quote to finish removing/grinding a very large stump, came on time and did the job right. It was perfect. Thank you!"

"Levi went above and beyond with our job. He was very prompt with his communication and was very flexible with scheduling. Although 811 had a back-up with screenings, Levi came out the same day that 811 reviewed our property. Levi was professional, looked after our yard and took care of the 7 stumps within 2 hours. Although we had only contracted him to grind down the stumps, he went above and beyond and cleared out a sizable area around the stumps as the roots were all over. Compared to the competition, Levi was priced more fairly, had a much shorter lead time (his competition was booked out 3-4 weeks and were rigid with scheduling), and he was in and out in just 2 hours (his competition quoted 4 hours). I would recommend Levi to anyone who is looking for stumps to be removed."

"We had a stump that needed to be ground down in order to level the yard and provide extra parking and add to the useability of that area. They came with their equipment and went right to work. In no time the job was complete and was exactly what we had invisioned it to be. Someone must be a mind reader. They were all very polite and talented at what they do. They were very conscientious about their work. Very professional and reasonable rates. We are very Happy Customers and would recommend them without hesitation."

"Very low key when you meet him, but Steve is very thorough and detailed with his quote and very thorough and detailed in his work. I chose him primarily because of his quote. He is also personally involved in every part of the job and works his butt off! He sticks by his quote; I decided I wanted to give him a tip because he went well beyond what was required. His over twenty years of experience shows in his results. His crew were all excellent and capable. Although tree work requires heavy equipment and can lead to lawn damage, Steve tries to reduce that by using a Toro Dingo lift that uses a track drive system instead of wheels. That reduces damage to your lawn, but cannot eliminate it, especially under wet conditions, so be prepared. That is something that will be the case for whoever you choose. Summary: I would recommend Highland Tree Care to one and all, they are an experienced, knowledgeable and performance oriented tree service company. The owner, Steve Shryack is highly capable."

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Walton, IN

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
