"Our experience with Junk King was outstanding – starting with their website features for estimating the cost of the project and scheduling the services, to the actual performance of the services. When our day arrived, we received a “heads up” phone call, and the crew arrived on time. The crew (brothers – John and Jake) were friendly, professional, and most importantly very careful and clean when on our property. The first step was to confirm the cost of the project, which matched exactly the website estimate. Once we okayed the cost, John and Jake efficiently performed the haul-away services. We are 100% satisfied (fair value for cost of services), and without hesitation recommend Junk King. Haul-away Services performed: 1. Furniture (Sofa, Loveseat, Futon frame, Console Stereo) 2. Electronics (Projection TV, Lap Top Computers, DVD Players, Boom Boxes, cables, etc.) 3. Sewing machine and stool 4. Pre-cast concrete decorative scallops (12” x 4” x 2”) – approx. 100 5. Paint cans (dry) – approx. 15 6. Miscellaneous household items"

"He arrived promptly and was very professional. Jim will come and look over what you need hauled, he will give you a fair price, and then if you agree, he will get right to work. He has no problem jumping in and working hard. Jim cleaned out a rental house that just had too much stuff left in it for me. When I looked in the house I felt overwhelmed, but Jim never lost his good mood, he just worked away. He is also very conscientious of your house and your neighbors. I would call again and will recommend him to all of my friends. <br />"

"Excellent customer service. Responsive, friendly, respectful. They are not the lowest priced solution or the highest. You get what you pay for. The contract is clear and there are no surprises. The company lays it out for you to easily understand. They were timely in the delivery of the dumpsters and called 30 minutes prior to delivery just like they promised. I had no need to call with additional questions but appreciated knowing that they could be easily reached if necessary. In summary, this is a company I would gladly use again and feel you get great value for the monies spent."

"CR Donations did an outstanding job for me. I am moving and had 3 bedrooms worth of furniture in my upstairs that had to be removed. My stairs have a very tight u shape turn at the bottom. Chad and Raechel were fantastic! They were quick, efficient and very reasonable. They tore apart my sleep number bed which had a metal frame plus removed all the big bookcases and dressers with mirrors. It amazed me how they carried down this heavy furniture and never touched a wall. I would highly recommend them to my family and friends!"

FAQs for waste, junk, building materials and debris removal and hauling projects in Washington, PA

To throw out stained, broken, or infested mattresses or couches, call a junk hauler or take it to your local landfill yourself. If it’s infested with pests, you might want to call a pest control specialist near you. If you have infested furniture, there's a good chance you have an infested home, too.

Tipping furniture removal services is not mandatory, but it is a thoughtful way to acknowledge their hard work and professionalism. If you're pleased with the service, consider tipping junk haulers 5% to 10% of the total cost or $10 to $20 per worker. This is especially appreciated when the job involves heavy lifting, navigating stairs, or handling bulky items. Tipping not only rewards the workers for a job well done but also fosters a positive working relationship.

If your furniture is in good condition, you have a few options:

  • Donate to charities: Organizations like Goodwill, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and GreenDrop often accept furniture donations and may offer free pickup services.

  • List online: You can list your items for free on local online marketplaces or community groups to find someone who needs them. Giving away your furniture not only helps you clear space but also benefits others in your community.

The cost to haul away junk depends on the haul’s size. A single item costs $60 to $150 to haul, with each additional item adding $20 to $40 to the total price. Hauling away a full truckload of trash or other junk will run $400 to $800.

Yes, some furniture retailers will haul away your old furniture when they deliver your new items. This service may be included in your purchase price or offered at a discounted rate. It's important to check with the store to see if they provide furniture removal and whether there are any requirements, such as a minimum purchase. Utilizing this service can save you time and effort in disposing of your old furniture.

In many cases, you can dispose of furniture in a dumpster, but regulations vary by location. Some areas prohibit items like mattresses or upholstered furniture due to environmental concerns. It's best to check with your local waste management authorities or dumpster rental company to understand what's allowed.
