"Fabulous experience. Mike answered all my questions and was very timely with responses etc. He was very understanding in my multi year process of making a decision to proceed. His crew was great. They finished ripping off and installing new in one day, a very long day! New gutters in another half day. The house looks new. Would not hesitate to work with him again!"

"Craig came for the estimate, answered all my questions, and explained exactly what he would be doing with the asbestos tiles in my basement in 2 large rooms, approximately 866 sq ft. His crew came early to prepare the area and completely finished the job the next day. They did an excellent job, totally cleaned up after and I received the clean air lab results all at a reasonable price. Yes, would definitely recommend in fact, already have. Pictures- before and after..."

"BEWARE!! Contractor-Dave Nelson talks a big talk but provides UNPROFESSIONAL service and POOR QUALITY work. He will take your money and leave you with a mess of work to redo. BARN ROOF LEAKS in numerous places & is deemed useless. Do not hire this man. The personal trash, numerous cigarette butts, loads of screws, tin pieces all over your property will leave you cleaning up for weeks. We had to replace two tires from the debris left all over. This is not what Senior Citizens need after the stress and tragedy of losing our barn. His website is NOT at all what he states he is. We don’t want anyone to be taken as we have been. Our barn looks like it has been through a hail storm! Every piece of the steel is scratched, dented, painted over and globed up with silicone and then painted over again. Mr. Nelson -contractor posted our barn on his website without our permission. From THAT picture you can tell the aesthetics are of poor quality. (Carriage posts & 2” gaps all around the windows) Feel free to contact us to come look at our barn & his work. Havens wood, Road Roscoe. WE CANNOT RECOMMEND HIM AS A CONTRACTOR."

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Watertown, WI

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
