"Randolph was the electrician sent. He had already discussed the matter with the service dispatcher before coming to the house. Randolph was very customer oriented and well mannered. He clearly explained the problem, and the solution. He made certain that I understood what the issue was. The furnace should have been on it's own circuit breaker. He found another problem where the ground wire had not been correctly attached when the house had been re-wired by another contractor two years earlier. Most importantly Randolph was very efficient and his work flow was well structured. I was pleased and very satisfied to have the work correctly done. Randolph represented quite a good change from many of the other serviceman I have had."

"I was extremely pleased with Ontime Service. I received an advance email letting me know who would be coming to my home, with a picture I believe, and Sam introduced himself upon arrival. I liked that I could schedule an exact time for service and Sam was on time. They have a fixed pricing structure, so you pay for service, not time. Sam was very thorough and careful to protect his work area, and even helped me move my table back in place, which was thoughtful. I would definitely use Ontime Service again for my electrical or plumbing needs."

"I highly recommend Sammy and his team. Apparently my house had settled which caused the underground mains to pull away, which damaged one of the 'jaws' on the incoming power lines inside the meter panel. As you should be aware, APCO owns everything from the pole/line in to the jaws, and you own from the jaws into your house.
The electrician, Cruz was right on time and very pleasant to deal with. In our discussion, he was also highly qualified for the task and beyond. Unfortunately we had to wait close to 2 hours for the Alabama Power guy to get there...
When the APCO guy got there and pulled the panel from the meter box it turned out that the third party APCO contractor went ahead and repaired the jaw, likely because it could be considered a safety/fire hazard. There was nothing for Cruz, the electrician to do. There was some previous legwork such as getting a permit, and scheduling time with APCO, so Sammy had some time and cost in it already. Sammy COULD have charged me the $100 for the permit, and $145 x 2 hours for a total of $390, but instead charged me for only one hour ($145). This kind of service just doesn't exist anymore. It was nobody's fault (except perhaps the fact that the APCO contractor did not relay these details to my account notes), but Sammy would have been justified in billing me the full amount because he had his guy out there for 2 hours, and then the time and $$ associated with getting a permit and scheduling with APCO.
Thank you Sammy Rubin! I hope this review brings you more business because of the way you dealt with my problem. I will definitely recommend you to anyone I come across, and will use you for my next electrical need (the basement). God Bless!!

"TLW Electric & Services, LLC is the best in the business! Tavaras Wells (Owner) is who you get to interface with. He is a master electrician; however, his electricians are equally nice and superior in their work-ethic. They love what they do. Tavaras is very easy to talk to. He's creative when it gets complicated and is always very reasonably priced. He wired a basement remodel for me and it turned-out perfectly. If you need an electrician for a small or large wiring job, Tavaras should be your first call. You won't be sorry!"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Watson, AL

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
