"We decided to have our driveway paved this year after completing a detached garage. It is over 500 feet, with a large hill, and we also needed the area between the house and garage finished. Jeff was very responsive and came out to take a look at the site within a few days. We knew it would be a few month before the job would be completed. His crew was very professional and completed the work in one day in November. It was quite an investment, but we are very glad we chose to replace the gravel driveway, which needed continual maintenance. There were no changes to the original estimate and the finished driveway looks fantastic. Would definitely recommend C&G to anyone who needs paving work."

"I saw a sign in a driveway of a colleague and my wife and I were very impressed with the work.   I called back in June of 2015 and worked with Michael from Worden and Sons Paving and he gave me the quote, however we made a decision to not go with it due to a financial emergency that did not allow us to invest in the work.   March of 2016 I was looking through e-mails and found the quote and when I called about if they would honor the quote from 9 months earlier he said absolutely!!  Not only did he honor the quote he scheduled and within 2 weeks of inquiring we had our BEAUTIFUL new DRIVEWAY in place.   What I love the most is this is a family business and Michael was very proud of the fact that the people who are working with him worked with his grandfather.   Loyalty, Responsiveness, Quality and Efficient Work.    I feel we received the full value from the work provided. <br />"

"Job took multiple days with use of subcontractor crew to mill up old asphalt; very good crew coordination, responsive crew members, all acted professionally. Time delay due to weather which delayed finish time. Mgt and crew VERY responsive to any suggestions and a critique/rework of any area. Extremely pleased and felt we received full value. They had the most competitive price of the three firms contacted for a bid. I personally supervised the entire project from start to finish (this was done for our HOA) and I approved/signed off on the project as President of the association. <br />"

"He ran into some unforeseen difficulties during the work, but he did good work.  The driveway looks great.  His pricing was extremely reasonable prior to the unforeseen circumstances, but the quality of the work was worth it."

"<p>The firm's president, Randy Alverson, arrived promptly, assessed our damp basement situation, and explained in great detail the various steps of the waterproofing process.  He answered all of my questions and was so professional and reassuring that I broke my usual rule of getting at least 3 proposals for any home project, and decided to hire Chamberlin-Washington immediately.  Of course, I had done my homework and read the firm's excellent reviews on numerous websites including Angle's List, which added to my confidence in my choice.  </p> <p>The Chamberlin-Washington crew was terrific and worked so hard under very chilly and damp conditions. They first removed all of the plants/shrubs from our front borders, carefully wrapping the roots in order to preserve them.   An 8 + -foot trench then had to be dug along the front of our house, to the bottom of the foundation, in order to begin the waterproofing process.  They worked very carefully, addressing one half of the foundation at a time (including under our front porch, which was undisturbed). The crew realized that our home's exterior foundation was very rough and uneven, which meant that it wouldn't be a receptive surface for the waterproofing membrane.  Mr. Alverson came back to our house to explain the additional steps that were needed to smooth the foundation out before the waterproof membrane could be applied: grind down the rough foundation, install stainless steel wall ties, install wood forms and pour a 4" thick concrete layer to even up and consolidate the foundation.  He made sure that we understood what was going to happen, and explained that though this was an unusual step to have to take, they had done it before for with some older homes such as ours (built circa 1925).  This extra step of preparation added an additional 50% to the original fee, but it had to be done. Once the waterproofing layer was finally in place, they tested it by spraying water onto the foundation for an hour, with one person carefully monitoring the process inside our basement to make sure that no water was leaking through.</p> <p>Ultimately, Chamberlin-Washington was able to thoroughly waterproof the front foundation of our home, and we have had no further water problems whatsoever.  We were extremely impressed with Mr. Alverson and his crew -- very professional, punctual and thorough.  I highly recommend this firm to anyone whose home needs similar waterproofing work.  I should also add that Chamberlin-Washington honored the 10% discount for Angie's List members -- a nice touch.</p> <br />"

"We are very happy with our project completed by Strong Tower. We needed work done on a remodel to include installing, finishing and painting drywall, installing floors, kitchen cabinets, shower and bath, and lighting. Carlos and his team worked diligently to complete the project well before our deadline. Carlos is very communicative and was great with keeping us informed on his progress and any obstacles he encountered. We are very happy with the quality of the team’s workmanship. They kept the home clean and in order after every day they worked. We previously hired them to install a new side porch as well as add a wire railing system on 3 porches, and we were also very happy with that. We highly recommend Strong Tower Home Improvements and look forward to working with them again!"

FAQs for asphalt paving installation projects in Waynesboro, VA

Most driveways wrap up in roughly a week. Allow two to three days for installation, followed by an additional two to three days for the surface to cure. Concrete and asphalt follow this timeline, whereas a gravel job often finishes more quickly. Laying out the schedule upfront makes it easier to plan your week and your budget.

Sealer prevents water, salt, and UV rays from damaging the surface. Apply a fresh coat every one to three years, and you’ll slow down the growth of cracks, avoid pricey repairs, and keep the driveway looking sharp. A local professional can handle the job efficiently and ensure even coverage.

Material is the significant driver when it comes to the lifespan of a driveway. Asphalt stays strong for about 20 years, concrete lasts 30 to 40 years, and paver stones can last 50 to 100 years because you can swap out damaged bricks. With regular top-ups, a gravel drive can also reach the century mark. Knowing these timelines helps you map out long-term maintenance and replacement costs.

Repaving strips everything down and starts fresh, letting you change the layout or improve drainage before pouring new material. Resurfacing, on the other hand, adds a top layer over a solid base, giving you a facelift without the need for a complete demolition. Go with repaving when the base is failing; choose resurfacing when the structure is sound and you just need a new surface.
