"So, I am a research fanatic. In 2018, I researched companies and I settled on All About Plumbing. -At the time, I wanted just an on-demand water heater. I hired them for that installation. - Then I hired them to replace PEX plumbing and my water line. - Then I hired them to install a sump-pump. - Then I hired them to install a whole-House water filter. - Most recent hire was today for servicing our on-demand Water Heater, servicing / replacing filter in our whole-house water heater, and installing a kitchen faucet. I HIGHLY recommend them to everyone who asks. I would have hired them to replace our HVAC system if I had known then (in 2018) that they do Plumbing, Septic, and HVAC! We have them service our HVAC, now. I recommended them to my neighbor who called them in the afternoon about a broken water heater flooding her house and they worked until 8 PM to get her HW back on and working. ALL ABOUT PLUMBING out od Hendersonville is the BEST."

"Chris was very professional and did a thorough job of explaining everything they needed to complete to make the crawl space up to standards. Jalen communicated when he was on the way and when he arrived. Explained everything, cleaned up afterwards, and provided me with pictures of the work that was done. I need an additional outlet for the condensation pump and once installed, he even offered to come back to complete that installation. He explained that how he set it up, the condensation run to the sub pump. I was impressed with the entire staff and their professionalism."

"They did removal of old broken-down encapsulation, redid, made air-tight, waterproofed, mold and mildew treatment, French drains on two sides, drained cinder blocks, filled holes left from previous drains and vents, installed new sump pump and dug in, leveled-the slanted area for proper drainage, installed new exterior drain, relieved 4" of standing water and established proper flow. PROFESSIONALS TO THE MAX!!! It's gorgeous and clean and brilliantly done. I can't say enough good stuff about Patrick and his crew! Even after traipsing in and out with wet, muddy old encapsulation materials and debris in the rain, they left my place in sparkling condition -- NO evidence of them ever having been there! No cig stubs (they don't smoke), no old drink bottles, not even a cleaning cloth. Swept, washed drive, vac'ed ramp, washed entry ladder. VERY knowledgeable. Not my first encapsulation and sump pump situation but by far THE BEST. Quality materials, good work ethic, a pleasure!"

"Service call set up for 9/30/2015. When Zach arrived, he didn't have the correct water heater. I needed a 50 gallon low-boy. He did order it and had it installed 2 days later on 10/2/2015. Zach was very professional and kept me in the loop. Water heater is working great and I would use him again.

"We recently purchased a townhouse in Asheville as a second home to be near our daughter that had recently moved there. The unit had been a rental unit and need several upgrades. We replace the Formica countertops with granite and had to have the faucets replaced and the new sink drains connected. The work was done promptly and the workmanship was excellent. Everyone that we dealt with was professional and pleasant."

"I interviewed several plumbers before choosing Peter. They all had good Angie's List reviews but Peter's philosophy was the most conservative. My home inspector had said the plumbing in the house I purchased was shoddy and would require a complete overhaul. Peter agreed that it wasn'texactly professionally done, but there were no leaks so no need to change the whole system right away. Instead of spending $4000 on replacing everything I spent $230 to change the pressure regulator. A great plumber and a great person! Highly recommended.

"Water was gushing all over the place in the evening. They started immediately at 9:40 PM, hand dug the line and service box. Installed a new cutoff and repaired the line. Installed a cutoff with the water meter box and installed a post. It was an 81/2 hour job in the dark. I was extremely pleased with the work. If they didn't jump right on this job, my water bill would have probably far exceeded the repair.

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Waynesville, NC

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
